Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Beautiful story, slow to develop
Revisado: 05-08-23
I don’t know that I have ever reviewed a book before now, despite having listened to hundreds. I won’t write this feedback like other book reviews, either. I felt the need to respond after seeing how disparate the reviews here are. This book was tough for me to get into and it wasn’t until the third try—when I increased the playback speed to 1.4x—that I was engrossed. The character depth was beautiful. The clearly well researched information on prosthetics and life with a gained disability was appreciated. So many people here saying that too much time was spent on the disability…interesting. I did not love the wrap up at the end, it felt slightly rushed after so much character building; however, I don’t think of this novel as a mystery/thriller at all. It is just a beautiful, heartfelt story built around life after trauma and with disability. Give it a try—but play it faster :)

Terrible, narration and story
Revisado: 03-19-21
This is awful. The narration is awful and the story is terrible. I've never felt so strongly about an audio book before. I got this for my 7 year old but of course I listened as well. I found the storyline confusing ( as in doesn't flow well due to word choice, etc) and at times inappropriate. This was not helped by the awful narration that accompanied it. My son despised it as well.. We do not recommend.
