Some of the fight scenes are just stupid. For instance, the main characters wildly shoot all of their bullets at nothing until the gun is empty, instead of shooting under the car where the villain is hiding.

Couldn’t bear to finish it

I sat through the first book with the hope that it would get better, but finally couldn’t take it any more after the first chapter of the second book. The amount of racism, profanity, and twisted descriptions of demented thinking is sickening, not to mention that nearly every single infected person suddenly becomes racist with continual spewing of racial epitaphs toward their target. I wouldn’t recommend any of the books in this series, and I won’t be looking to buy anymore books by Peter Meredith. The narrator did a good job but I honestly wonder about anyone who would be willing to narrate this book, as it just seems like an excuse to spew racist rants and vulgarity.

Brilliant and moving.

If I could choose one famous person to meet, it would be Kate Mulgrew. She is a force of life and it shows in her book. It is amazing and so well written. Is there anything she can’t do?

The vulgarity detracted from what would have been a good story.

I couldn’t enjoy the book for the vulgarity laced through it. The author seems to have a fascination with the word “pus*y because it appears throughout the book. There was no finesse in the writing. There are so many descriptive words for the female anatomy that actually sound pretty and sexy, instead of using any of those many words, the author chose to repeatedly use the same vulgar word which just irritates and detracts from the storyline. I wondered many times if the book had actually been written by a man I won’t be purchasing any more books in the series. It’s a shame, because the story was interesting otherwise.

Love the story. Hate the cursing.

I would have enjoyed this book much, much more if it wasn’t for the authors constant use of GD. The first book in the series was not as heavily laced with it. I would love to finish the series, but it is very distracting and irritating to be engrossed in a scene and suddenly be slapped in the face with GD. I find it odd that the author has a scene with one of his characters fighting evil with an image of Jesus, but uses the curse GD as if his life depends on it. I’m sure the loss of one book sale will not matter to this author, but I’m also sure that there are other Christians who would like to avoid wasting their time on purchasing a book where the story is overshadowed by the authors over fondness of using the Lords name in vain.

Poorly written and disingenuous

The overall tone of this book is insincere. It feels more like it’s written for the shock factor than any real desire to help victims of childhood sexual abuse.

I didn’t like the heroine in this book, but I did like the story.

I didn’t find the heroine very likable in this book, I felt her husband deserved better, but it’s possible Ruth didn’t want us likening this character. The book, however, did not disappoint. My favorite of her books so far is, A dark dark wood.

I didn’t want it to end!

Finally, a writer who knows how to build suspense in the romance department. Faiths books are SO MUCH more than romances, but the relationships between her characters grow slowly and are so much more rich and real because of this. Not to mention, werecats, grindelows, witches and flying rainbow dragons. I can’t wait for her next book!!
