This book was written like poetry. There is a murder mystery. There is an investigation. But it is ultimately all happening in and around Rose/House. This story was always about Rose/House. The best haunted ai house and work of art and architecture in the world. A monument to its creator and perhaps successor to him. Or maybe something more than he ever could have been.

Very emotional for a movie tie in

focuses on the tiefling Druid character, explaining her traumatic backstory, how she became a Druid, why she cares so much about the wood elves, and is also a really good story about abandonment trauma and anxiety. Really good!

a solid movie prequel

Great Accompaniment to the Movie!

If you’re wondering, you can read/listen to this either before or after seeing the movie. There’s no spoilers either way since it’s a prequel, but it does add some emotional depth to the movie. The narrator was really good at doing different voices for each character. Although it was hard not to think his voice for Edgin sounded like Michael Scott lol

This Narrator Brings the book to life!

I was struggling to get into this book and was about to go on a long drive so I figured I'd use an Audible Credit and listen on the drive to see if it got any better. The narrator adds so much life to the characters and just made it so exciting. I love the voices she does for each of the characters and the accent she does in general narration. I checked the rest of the series to make sure she narrates the whole thing and was happy to see that she does!
