This was an interesting setup. Good potential. 13 chapters in, I realized that it was titled wrong. it should be called "The Assassin's warm & fuzzy feelings." Over half the book so far has been about an emerging love story with the "B" story about some occasions of fighting. Which to be fair, are well written.

Just know this is apparently a love story about an assassin, not a fantasy assassin story.

audible made a fail

the book is great but the fact that I have to leave a review now if I want to rate the book is insane. Audible made it so I'm far less likely to rate a book because I dont want to have to type out a review. this wastes my time, hurts the author because less people will rate for same reason, (certainly no new reviewers are rating due to this) and Audible may lose sales due to books having less ratings.

such a fail for no reason. I rarely read reviews, but I ALWAYS try new titles based on star rating and how many ratings their are. and as it is, thus is just me waiting time too. Audible will neither ever see this or go back to a more sensible approach.

the premise and general storyline is good. really good. However, it is guilty of what kills far too many good Litrpg books, the overuse of character sheets.

yes, I know that is at the heart of the genre. I like that. Good books state the stats in their entirely after significant milestones, not every damn change. The books worth reading and recommending are the ones that review the items that changed. (i.e. "...caused his strength to shoot from 13 to a respectable 21")

Rehashing the name, race, age, alignment, and every damn skill because 2 points in a state were gained kills the story. There is a segment here where the whole Stat sheet was reviewed, 2 paragraphs written, was re-reviewed, a few more paragraphs, and a 3rd review of everything. Plus the, "since he had time, he decided to review his stats" B.S. when nothing had changed.

Again, good storyline that I enjoyed, just too much stat-review-padding.

Highly enjoyed this book. Well written and read. It takes so much useful information and presents it in a friendly, encouraging, but straightforward manner.

Wonderful methodology and advice. I'm glad I took the time to listen and look forward to application.

I gave every book in this series 4 stars. it's entertaining, well written, good pace, and doesn't waffle too often. The characters are well done and the world building is solid.

what keeps me from giving 5 stars, is personal which may be a boon to you but a bust for me. There's TOO MUCH review of the character sheet. I enjoy the character sheet aspect of this genre. but I don't need the hero to review his race, hair color, eye color, height, weight, AND EVERY DAMN SKILL (with description) every time the stats are reviewed. Sure, a full review near the start and end are understandable. But there are times like, (paraphrase here) "He though he had a skill that may help" followed by a review of the whole thing (with descriptions of every skill) and then moments later say slhiw he wanted to see how his "insert stat" had changed, where the whole thing would be reviewed again. It makes it seem like it's there for padding, not world building. Just review the pertinent parts a d don't explain every damn thing every damn time.

But, one man's bust is another's boon so, yeah, this is better than a 4 star series. But man there's a real annoying thing....

well do e story that almost made it to the finish line. the end of the book derails on an emotional but ultimately lesser task than the one you've been following for the entire book. then, in the final moments, the come back in time to give you no resolution. it's like the varsity team went home and the JV team came in to finish the book.

very close to being amazing. but, aside from the final few chapters, it's really good and very well done.

Nathan does time travel right and wonderful. The only problem is that he needs to go to his future self and copy all his future books. Then bring them back to now so we can enjoy them rather than waiting for him to write them.

is your favorite part of Disney's Haunted Mansion the narrator's voice? I'f so, you're in for a treat! If not, we'll, then I can't tell you because while the voice is wonderful and powerful, it is not apropos for reading a book IMHO. I therefore couldn't make it past the first 2 chapters.

Also, listen with your hand on the volume. he goes from nearly shouting to barely whispering. if you want to hear and not go deaf, you're going to be volume hopping throughout.
