Historia
Medium and clairvoyant Simon Kincaide owns a Myrtle Beach boardwalk shop where he runs ghost tours, holds seances, and offers private psychic readings, making a fresh start after his abilities cost him his lover and his job as a folklore professor. Jaded cop Vic D'Amato saw something supernatural he couldn't explain during a shootout several years ago in Pittsburgh and relocated to Myrtle Beach to leave the past behind, still skeptical about the paranormal. But when the search for a serial killer hits a dead end, Vic battles his skepticism to ask Simon for help.

It was an enjoyable read
Revisado: 05-18-23
It was a fun read. I don’t like most gay paranormal series because they focus too much on erotica, but this I enjoyed.
One thing that almost caused me to stop listening was the use of the word “clean” to denote that the characters were HIV negative. As an HIV positive man I consider that to be disgustingly offensive. The opposite of “clean” is “dirty”. I am not nor is my blood dirty. I have a virus that is suppers by medication to the point we’re I am undetectable so I can not transmit the virus to others.
I understand that sadly this term is thrown around within the gay community, which is worse. It was said twice and each time it made me cringe. Nothing can be done about it’s use but know that it is a demeaning way to denote HIV status.

One summer won’t be enough.... Kaenon Geary was done fighting the small minds in his sleepy Texas town when he made his escape and never looked back. But now, for the first time in more than a decade, he’s returned to Braxton to spend the summer with his beloved grandmother - her final summer - and no longer recognizes the home he’d left behind all those years ago. Everything has changed. Everything but the man he’s never stopped wanting.

It was a great book to escape into.
Revisado: 01-18-23
I enjoyed the book. It was a fun read. I’m not big on graphic sex scenes, being more into the romance, but hers weren’t overly long. I loved the slight mystical theme. Overall I enjoyed it. This touched on urban fantasy. The elements about the family would make a great urban fantasy series.

Historia
Cutthroat political consultant Thom Morgan is thriving, working on the governor of California’s presidential campaign. If only he didn’t have to deal with Clay Parker, the infuriatingly smug data analyst who gets under Thom’s skin like it’s his job. In the midst of one of their heated and very public arguments, a journalist snaps a photo, but the image makes it look like they’re kissing. As if that weren’t already worst-nightmare territory, the photo goes viral—and in a bid to secure the liberal vote, the governor asks them to lean into it. Hard.

Great read!
Revisado: 10-05-22
It’s hard to find romance novels written for gay men, that aren’t full of pornographic sex scenes.
That isn’t what I read these stories for. This book has sex scenes that are pertinent to the storyline and hot without being excessively graphic. This will definitely garner a second listen. I hope there’s a follow up-id love to continue watching them learn and grow together. Great story, great narrator

Historia
My name is Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman, and I am a car mechanic. And a coyote shape-shifter. And the mate of the Alpha of the Columbia Basin werewolf pack. Even so, none of that would have gotten me into trouble if, a few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who live in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground.

It doesn’t disappoint
Revisado: 07-15-19
I’ll assume that most who look at this book have read the preceding ten novels; if that is the case, you will definitely enjoy the story.
The Mercy Thompson novels are very consistent in how well the engage you; after you commit to the first, they flow from one to the next effortlessly. Lorelei King narrates the story beautifully. She has a very soft soothing voice, that I have enjoyed more and more with each new novel.

Enjoyable, though it tries to be much more complex than it needs to be.
Revisado: 03-12-19
I’ve never read Kate Morton before and was initially drawn to the book because the Title and synopsis reminded me of The Secret Garden, one of my favorite books when I was young.
I agree with the vast majority of reviews; Caroline Lee is an excellent narrator. Her pace was a bit slow for me, at first, and I initially bumped up the speed, but ended up going back to the regular pace. Her pace and intonation fit the story.
The story itself, while extremely slow paced, did entertain me. I’m not familiar with Ms. Morton’s work, but it seemed , in this story, that the plot twists that were meant to heighten the drama and make me more curious about the final outcome, were very heavy handed. I did enjoy it and i understand that the heavy handed drama is not unusual in the old Gothic Romances; this seemed to be a modern version that genre. I will admit that I loved the drama, I just wish it had been more subtly done.
I gave the story 3⭐️ and overall 4⭐️, meaning I think 3.5 is where I’d actually rank it. I’m going to try another of Ms. Morton’s novels; some don’t care for authors who are elaborate in their descriptions of the mundane, but I love it and Ms.M delivers on that end with gusto. She definitely has the gift of painting an entire scene with her word choices; the touch of a breeze or barest hint of a fragrance are all inserted into your mind while listening.
If the “authoress” actually checks these reviews, I want to make it clear that I enjoyed the story, but I can be a jaded bitchy old queen and can’t stop myself from criticizing everything that crosses my path. I look forward to my next KM experience.
Respectfully yours,
Steven M

Historia
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

A thought provoking tale
Revisado: 01-19-19
To be honest, I liked and disliked the story, but it is still a novel I would, enthusiastically, recommend. The like/dislike conundrum wasn’t meant as a negative; just as in life, I sometimes found the main character bland or unsympathetic. That I didn’t like it at times, is, oddly, what made me like it the most.
I’m a gay man in his late forties. The story caused me to question how I view myself and how I look at others.
Two thumbs up

Great story and truly phenomenal narration!
Revisado: 01-14-17
This was the first paranormal series I ever read/listened to and it is, by far, my favorite. Kim Harrison weaves an entertaining tale that quickly hooks you and pulls you along. Marguerite Gavin is, I believe, the most engagingly versatile narrator I've ever listened to. Her ability to differentiate between each character without using cheesy and exaggerated voices and accents is truly a gift. She very subtly shifts from character to character, bringing the story to life. I've read/listened to this series several times since I first read it.

Revisado: 01-14-17
I truly enjoyed the story. I've purchased and listened to all of the books in the series to date. I tried this series because I really loved Kim Harrison's "Rachel Morgan" series and this series was suggested as something similar. I haven't enjoyed any other paranormal series I've tried since the Rachel Morgan books except for this series.
