This is a true diamond in the rough. Isla Davon did such an incredible job developing these characters and the plot is so different from other rh books in this genre. I finished this audiobook almost just in one sitting. I can’t wait for book 2!

Elizabeth Evans is *THE* SJM narrator

what a wild ride. once again, Elizabeth Evans crushed it as narrator. her ability to bring these amazing characters to life and add even more emotional impact to already well-written scenes is truly an art. she is by far the best SJM narrator and I hope the author sticks with her for all future recorded books. the main storyline has now wrapped up and there were many full-circle moments that I appreciated. there were some loose ends and questions I still have, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series whenever it releases! Bryce is such a strong character and is definitely one of my favorites, but Lidia was a standout for me in this one for sure. this was well worth the credit!

the male narrator was pretty atrocious, not going to lie. he used this surfer-guy, douchebag tone for all the guys. I tried to speed it up to get through his chapters but he sounded like a South Park character then. I DNF but if I were to go back to it, I’d choose the Kindle version for sure.

a little slow, but worth listening

this definitely felt like more of a filler book, much of the action from the last few books was missing but we did finally see the twins find out about Sophie and we get to see Lexie work through her trauma, so that was nice. I know these things were needed to move the plot forward so I am hoping in the next book Lexie is back to her sassy self (or her new version of that) and we can see more development in the relationships. The female narrator did a great job with these characters, especially Lexie but I have a few annoyances:
1. just like with the last three books, she pronounces “jammies” like “jawmies” … why
2. once I noticed this is drove me NUTS so I am sorry to anyone who reads this review before listening but with the female narrator there was a CONSTANT beeping from a smoke detector that needs new batteries in the background. infuriating lol.
3. it sounds to me like the female narrator wasn’t at all sure how to pronounce Zahur’s name. she pronounced it differently almost every time she said it and the inconsistency was threatening to take me out of the story.

unique story

you find when you’ve read one RH book, you’ve read them all, but there are always exceptions to that and this is one of them. this story and it’s characters were so unique! if you like academy romances, instalove, obsessive MMCs, and spicy scenes, you will probably like this book! Bridget & Jake Bordeaux did a fantastic job (per usual) bringing these characters to life.

worth the credit

so, at first I was kind of on the fence about continuing to listen to it because the female narrator was VERY breathy (in the beginning especially), and it was pretty distracting and grated on my nerves to hear her inhaling so loudly lol, BUT once the story picked up, it wasn’t as bad and I didn’t even notice it anymore. she did a FANTASTIC job getting across Z’s emotions and personality. I’ve read this book before, so it says something about the narrator if they can have me sobbing over a scene I knew was coming. The male narrator did well, too, though I had trouble differentiating some of the guys when the scene had all of them talking. All in all, it was well worth the credit and I can’t wait to listen to the next book. As I said, I have read this book before and Katie May killed it (as usual). If you like Throne of Glass but wanna read the adult and reverse harem version, this is the book for you — you will love Z!

Bridget & Jake Bordeaux (per usual) knocked this out of the park. I liked this book just okay when I read it many months ago, but as soon as I saw these two names I bought the audiobook instantly. And I’m so glad I did. They truly brought these characters to life and helped me become invested in the story. Upon finishing, I immediately went and binge-read the rest of the series (so excited for the final book 5 coming up!)
I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out on Audible. :)

love this book

I really love this book, so I was excited to see the audiobook was up for preorder. Both narrators were great at first but as time went on it got kind of exhausting listening to the female narrator. I know Sera is sassy, but the narrator says EVERY word on a sigh and every sentence is spoken the exact same way. Just became grating. But overall I liked it and will be getting the second!!

can’t recommend enough

I love this series and am already caught up on the books, but when I saw it was available on Audible I had to buy it. I can’t recommend it enough. Kasi Hollowell does an EXCELLENT job embodying Oli’s sass and attitude. she’s able to convey even the slightest change in the characters’ emotions, and did a lot to help me really get sucked into the story. It felt like reading it for the first time again, like it was a new experience. Can’t wait for the rest of the series to release here!
