Historia
Where is the best place to find life beyond Earth? We often look to Mars as the most promising site in our solar system, but recent scientific missions have revealed that some of the most habitable real estate may actually lie farther away. Beneath the frozen crusts of several of the small, ice-covered moons of Jupiter and Saturn lurk vast oceans that may have been in existence for as long as Earth, and together may contain more than 50 times its total volume of liquid water. Could there be organisms living in their depths?

Unformative and Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-21-25
I took my time with this one and I enjoyed it very much. One of those books I would definitely get through more than once in my life and hope to return to again one day when I'm a little older and more alien ocean human robotics exploration has occurred. I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in the topic.

The Cold Equations - Wow
Revisado: 04-15-25
There's something to be said about the imagination of the science fiction authors of the early 20th century and the power and magnitude of how hard a short story can hit you. So it is especially with "The Cold Equations" by Tom Godwin, which is one of the best, if the best short story sci-fi pieces I have experienced. Wow, that alone made this collection well worth it as I will remember that story for the rest of my life. There are a few other gems in the collection as well but not all were to my liking. I definitely recommend this to anybody thinking about working their way through the collection. we

Historia
Given the fact that there are perhaps 400 billion stars in our galaxy alone and perhaps 400 billion galaxies in the universe, it stands to reason that somewhere out there, in the 14-billion-year-old cosmos, there is or once was a civilization at least as advanced as our own. The sheer enormity of the numbers almost demands that we accept the truth of this hypothesis. Why, then, have we encountered no evidence, no messages, no artifacts of these extraterrestrials?

Very enjoyable and thought provoking
Revisado: 04-10-25
The content of this book goes over one of the most engaging and thought-provoking grand questions we humans ponder over. Are we alone in the universe, and if we aren't, where is everybody? I thought I had mulled over all the possibilities until I encountered this book. I was thoroughly impressed with the significant variety of possible answers to the Fermi paradox presented within the book. If I ever find myself going back over this review, note to self, read this one again, it's really good. Anybody else that is interested in this book that has found their way to it; if you're pondering whether or not you should read it, I highly recommend giving it a shot.

Reagan rocks!
Revisado: 04-02-25
The speeches are fantastic. The words are inspiring and the delivery is witty and expert. Several of the speeches were similar enough that this collection ended up being a bit repetitive.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

Engaging
Revisado: 04-01-25
Slow to start but once things pick up they pick up quite well; the plot, the characters, the setting, all of it comes together nicely to draw you to the conclusion which could be a standalone but is really just the start of a long series.

Historia
The reality of UFO incursions at American nuclear weapons facilities has been convincingly established. Hundreds of U.S. military veterans now openly discuss these ominous incidents and thousands of declassified government documents substantiate their revelations. Over the past four decades, renowned researcher Robert Hastings has interviewed more than 150 of those veterans regarding their involvement in these astounding cases. And the evidence presented in UFOs & Nukes makes clear that humans’ deadliest weapons have been under intense scrutiny by still-unidentified observers.

Top notch book on the subject
Revisado: 03-28-25
This is hands down one of the best books I have encountered on the subject. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through and I highly recommend it to anybody interested in learning more about this mystery. The book helps take away the need for people to believe in the subject and more for them to simply engage with and acknowledge the evidence and accept the genuine mystery of the phenomenon for what it is.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Arthur Herman pens this fascinating look at how two businessmen turned the U.S. into a military powerhouse during World War II. In 1940, FDR asked General Motors CEO William Knudsen to oversee the production of guns, tanks, and planes needed for the war. Meanwhile, industrialist Henry J. Kaiser presided over the building of “Liberty ships” - vessels that came to symbolize America’s great wartime output.

Engaging and captivating
Revisado: 03-22-25
I found this to be a very enjoyable history of a few Titans of manufacturing through the early part of the 20th century culminating in a Herculaneum effort and achievement of production during World War II. I had never even heard of one of these individuals which I found wholly amazing, so I thoroughly enjoyed learning about him. The more famous couple of individuals that are covered within the book are also fascinating to learn more about than what is typically known of them. Overall there's historical knowledge dropped that is engaging and captivating.

Very short installments that really should just be put into one book as this audiobook correctly does. The series concludes with a nice wrap up at the end. Nothing special overall but an enjoyable read if this subject matter interests you and you like "what if" scenarios related to the current climate of mystery that surrounds us in the real world.

Imaginative - Deep Time
Revisado: 03-09-25
This book was very imaginative and had very captivating elements to it. I greatly appreciated the deep time concepts and the cutting edge Sci-Fi this old school novel cultivated which went on to inspire a plethora of different works and themes within my favorite genres. This is big idea sci-fi not for the faint of heart.

A mixed bag with treasures
Revisado: 03-08-25
This was a very mixed bag with some being altogether uninteresting and boring to some being mind-blowing and expansive with powerful depth and foresight. I was immensely impressed with the latter. The really good stories were excellent. There was a really short one that was breathtaking. I don't need to go in any detail as to what the specific stories were as anybody interested in this collection should simply dive in and find for themselves through Discovery what it is they like and dislike. I kicked off my Arthur C. Clarke reads this year with this collection and I intend to consume many more of his works this year with a possible re-read of 2001.
