Should be Called Time Management for CEOs

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 06-18-22

Not written for ordinary women. Very tone deaf in places. The author takes her time diaries that her clients have filled out as though they are a scientific study of how women use their time resulting in her believing that women are underestimating the hours they sleep and overestimating the hours they work. A judgemental attitude at places in the book results.
No doubt, there are a few helpful ideas in the book that were useful but if you can't afford 3 sitters, have to work regular hours and are looking for advice on how to get food on the table, do the laundry and keep a roof over your head, look somewhere else.

If you want to hear about what you're supposed to do at 5 a.m., skip to chapter 13 and skip the rest of this cheesy, ridiculous story. This is a self help book disguised as a novel; a total time waster.

Captivating personalities, interesting to hear about life in WWII London, we thoroughly enjoyed this story. Likes it as much as Ballet Shoes.

This is the story of a native American girl, Meadowlark, and her family. After describing her birth and where she lives, Meadowlark has two adventures. The story sends my son and I to sleep every time we listen. The story is meant for girls, however, and has the listener imagine they are Meadowlark. The boy version, Little White Feather, is also good but not as goo as this one.

Mortimer brings Medieval England to life with his time traveller's guide. This book is rich in fascinating details of medieval life, many of which I heard for the first time despite having a degree in European history. Mortimer's approach to writing this book as though a travel guide really made me rethink the way I read, understand and analyze history. The stories and details take place in familiar places and in a history we all know well but it was not until I listened to this book that I felt I began to have a real understanding of the culture of the past and the people who lived in it.
Chapters are divided into sections such as law, food, travel, entertainment, etc. and explains to the would be traveller what he/she would be likely to encounter in Medieval England and dangers to look out for along the way.
My only complaint is that, at times, in the interest of providing more scholarly detail, the book slips away from its travel guide style that is so enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in British history.

Some technical chapters were a little hard to listen to and would have been better read but overall this was a fascinating book that provided a whole new perspective on ancient British history.
It was well read, however, I would have preferred it to be read by an English narrator as the author's use of language was so obviously English in many instances it sounded odd read in an American accent.
