Historia
On a cozy fall morning, Kate Kole is nestled in a coffee shop in the city of Toronto reading her favourite novel, when she accidentally kills a guy who's being rude to the coffee shop's cashier. Unfortunately for Kate, the person she killed was a fae assassin of the North Corner of Ever, visiting the human realm in secret. From there, four deadly fae assassins come to the human realm to hunt her down for breaking a fairy law and killing one of their own.

Funny, dangerous, and cozy!
Revisado: 04-17-25
This is my new favorite series!! I LOVE it! Who would have thought you could mashup cruel fae assassins, cozy coffee-shop vibes, wacky and dangerous fairy godmothers, and a book-loving, kindhearted girl who's impossible to enchant? Kate Kole is too good for her own good; she's constantly helping others out... to her own peril... and one day, she goes too far when she intervenes to stop a rude customer from intimidating a barista. When the rude customer turns on Kate and charges her with a murderous gleam in his eye, she does the only thing she can think of: she kicks him in self defense. Unfortunately, he tumbles back, smacks his head... and suddenly, Kate is death marked for killing a fairy. Highly recommended... but be sure you're listening (or reading) where you can laugh out loud, so as not to disturb your human neighbors or any fae assassins in the vicinity!

Surviving the Neverseen King's lethal bridal competition earned me the title of wife and queen. After the darkest, bloodiest night of my life, I am to don a wedding gown and marry the deadly fae king who lives in shadows. When sabotage and murder are discovered in the palace after the wedding, my new husband and I have no choice but to find out who is trying to usurp his throne. Yet the question that plagues me most isn't about power, magic, or the fate of the worlds.

The Neverseen King wants to be seen and loved
Revisado: 04-01-25
This is every bit as good as The Assassin Bride, which I loved. There are beautiful, swoony moments, lush slow burn Romance, and gradual healing through the bonds of marriage. There is also comic relief provided by Eshe, who is up to her usual pranks.., but we know danger lurking, and darkness is coming for the king and his bride. When it arrives, it’s heartbreaking, Now I can’t wait for book 3!

Wendell wears the crown and Emily runs the show!
Revisado: 03-28-25
If there were ever a series that I never wanted to end... it's this one!! I fell in love with Wendell and Emily in Book #1, continued my infatuation with them in Book #2, and decided I wanted to move in with them in Book #3—even if that meant moving to Faerie (which is a really scary place, so I may have to think twice about it). If you love amazing world-building, imaginative magic, portal fantasy, more faerie species that you can possibly name or count, characters that you'd love to have tea with, and a sweet, slow-burn romance that will leave you smiling, read Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales! I listened to the audio, which was beautifully narrated (don't miss Wendell's letter to Emily). Highly recommended!

A top-notch YA Fantasy Adventure!
Revisado: 03-15-25
This is a top-notch YA Fantasy adventure—I LOVED everything about it! The main character, Quinn, is impossible not to like; she’s a fae pirate captain AND heir to the throne in her kingdom, which is one of five fae kingdoms in the realm. She winds up having to compete in a winner-takes-all lethal competition against four other fae rivals. I loved each of the young fae competitors; their characters are well drawn and complement each other in so many ways. They each have a special gift or talent, such as Quinn’s elemental fire magic, which she can’t control and keeps hidden away. The plot flows and twists across all five fae kingdoms as the rivals must compete in five trials for the grand prize: the crown of all Faylan. If you love YA fantasy that’s packed with tricksters, betrayals, battles, mythical creatures, fantastical worlds, romance, found family, and enemies-to-allies, then do yourself a favor and pick up On Wings of Ash and Dust. You won’t be disappointed! I listened to the audiobook, which was beautifully narrated by Talon David.

Dark romantasy with Hunger Game vibes
Revisado: 03-02-25
LOVED this book! If you're looking for a dark romantasy with Hunger Game vibes, a morally gray MMC with lots of baggage, a feisty FMC who is determined to survive, and a great supporting cast... then add this to your TBR! Vera is running for her life for most of the book, and yet she's plucky enough to keep on going, even when she's tossed into the Labyrinth, which is designed to drive mages mad, and then is nearly killed by the first human she encounters. She continues to encounter the same man, and eventually she decides she can trust him; what's harder is getting him to trust himself. Delightful slow burn romance that's well worth the wait. Highly recommended!

A deliciously witty, enemies-to-lovers romantasy!
Revisado: 03-02-25
Mary Mecham is a master of banter, and this book is no exception. I love the snarky repertoire and verbal backstabbing when two former enemies must wed in an arranged marriage that's supposed to bring peace to both kingdoms. I enjoyed getting to know Azora's motivations and mindset, even as she begins to realize not everything she's been taught is true... and her husband may not be the villain she's been led to believe... in fact, he appears to be a very decent and altogether swoony prince who is falling for her. What's an assassin bride to do? You'll have to read this to find out! Highly recommended for fans of high stakes, high swoon, no spice romantasy!

LOVE this series with my whole heart!
Revisado: 02-22-25
Nine glorious fantasy romance books about elves, trolls, and humans... heart bonds, war, love, loss, heartache, humor, found family and new friends, self-discovery, healing, and hope. The good news is that Tara Grayce has a sequel series about the next generation that I can't wait to dig into!
This last book, Elf King, contains two beautiful novellas that have some devastatingly sad moments... but they're also incredible stories about love never truly dying... and also about second chances, particularly for Weylind and Rheva. I loved this book as much as all the others! I alternated between listening to the audio (chef's kiss) and reading the ebook.
If you're a fantasy romance fan, I highly recommend reading this complete series!

Attending church with Charlotte, her employer is a blessing. If only meeting Henry—Charlotte’s boyfriend’s best friend—hadn’t ignited fireworks of attraction. Who can Emily trust with Her Secret?
Revisado: 01-23-25
This is the final book in Samantha J. Ball's New Haven series, and I've enjoyed every one of these clean standalone romances. Her Secret has a complex plot, with enough twists and turns to satisfy any romance reader, and a well-developed love triangle that keeps you guessing until the end. I appreciated the faith elements woven through this story of two Christians who are strongly attracted to each other, despite the fact circumstances continue forcing them apart; I love that they pray to God for guidance. Lisa Lynn Sandlin is an outstanding narrator who delivers a range of emotions in her reading. I highly recommend this book and series!

A sweet, slow burn, second chance romance
Revisado: 01-18-25
I really like where Samantha J. Ball has taken her New Haven series with Building Dreams. Charlotte Scott's dreams were dashed 18 months ago... and she's been slowly rebuilding her life with the help of her family, friends, and her newfound Christian faith. She's inherited a fortune, moved into her own home, hired a live-in nanny for her children, and is devoting herself to her non-profit foundation. And then she meets Adam Wilson, a devout Christian man who's equally committed to his non-profit work. The two butt heads over their desire to purchase the same property for their respective good causes... but even as they argue over who has the "better" good cause, sparks fly between them due to their strong mutual attraction. What follows is a lovely, faith-filled story of shared dreams, relying on God for guidance and answers, and learning to trust someone again. Lisa Lynn Sandlin's narration was pitch perfect. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a second chance, slow burn romance with Christian characters.

A sacrificed maiden with spunk and attitude
Revisado: 01-08-25
I LOVED this book! No wonder it won the 2024 Swoony Awards for High Fantasy Romance! Nessa's spunk and wry humor had me laughing out loud as she tried to figure out what was wrong with the dragon who'd taken her back to his castle. Why did he keep asking her to light the candle (she knew you could never look the dragon in the face... or else... er, or else something bad would happen). And could she really trust the handsome, kindly dragon steward who seemed to understand all her fears and needs at the deepest level... and yet he ran and told the dragon everything they discussed each day? Should she take a chance and actually light that candle? You'll have to read this to find out why it's a new favorite! A well deserved five stars for the book and the audio!
