So many things I just can't suspend my disbelief. Sure, switching schools internationally is just so simple.
JFC.
Why do authors need to write without THINKING.

What in heck? This storyline is ridiculously stupid.

Suspended ALL that you know if you've ever worked in a hotel or resort industry LMAO. The author went waaaay off the deep end when plotting how to get the 2 in close quarters.
A reservation snafu??? OMG.. how stupid!! Does the author think readers are not worth a solid believable story?? There are so many other more plausible storylines she could have used that would have made sense.
As if a millionaire/billionaire would stand for any of it, of the front desk clerk would be the final answer.

Throwing in some severe mentally and emotionally topics such as cutting etc, without any forethought as to the YEARS of therapy needed for these things.

Just Ugh.
It's like this story was written by a high school student with no real world life experience.

I most feel as though the author should pay me back my credit I spent.
Yes, I could have stopped listening long before the end, but I was curious as to how she'd tie it all up.
More Ugh. I shouldn't have bothered.

I bought this on a whim, not knowing anything by the author, nor the narrator - and am so far happy about the choice, for the most part.

Not to give away spoilers, but 2 things I do not like in my books are insta love and cliffhangers without the next vook being available.

This book has both.

In general, insta love is just not believable for me. In this story specifically, I wish the level of feelings the author wants the reader to invest belief in had developed over a much longer period of time. An entire summer, for example would have worked well in the college break world. Based upon my own experiences, insta love is just inta lust, lol.

That said, the story is sweet. VERY sweet.
Not much heat, which being in Clean and Wholesome should be clear, but ummm but maybe come part 2 we might at least have Some sort of warmth, ahaha.
Again, having it be an unannounced cliffhanger is annoying - but as of the end of book one, we haven't gotten beyond kissing, so if that's your cup of tea, excellent! There is even plenty of hot tea!

And, just st because I have invested nearly 10 hours. I feel trapped and will now need to buy book 2. Well played Audible.

Live vicariously through me and wait till I finish part 2 and I will update! 😀

I love a novel set in my home state, and they are nearly always an automatic buy for me.

This start to a new series made me laugh and ultimately care about the characters, and I am looking forward to seeing how the authors grow the next books because I see lots of potential fun stories!

My gripes are not obvious to anyone who has no reason to know but are all in the pronunciation of locations.
The way Michael Dean is saying Ogunquit is going to drive me crazy if he doesn't get it right in any future books the town mentions.
UH-GUN-QUIT.
Like Fun...which if you know Ogunquit...is the perfect setting for this genre!! 🔥🔥😋😋

Anyway... all narrators should do proper research on the correct pronunciation of towns they have never been to.

Mistakes like this instantly take a listener out of the zone if they know it is wrong. Yes, I can tolerate it- but if it can be done right, it should be.

All in all, I am glad I listened and look forward to the next!

Great story. Bad idea to add a second narrator.

I really enjoyed this series. I actually listened to the first 2 quite a while ago, but the third was new to me, so I re-listened from the beginning, to bring everything fresh in my mind.

I love the humor & realistic conversations between characters and it was nice to see characters from the previous books sprinkled throughout.

I'm a huge fan of m/m, and have read a lot of the roommate trope but I tend to get bored/frustrated with GFY situations because somehow they just seem more contrived than I find enjoyable - but I was really glad that isn't what this turned out to be.

I literally laughed out loud multiple times, and l think there was a good mix of sweet/heat moments, which is cool. Nothing over the top, no angst. There's a frat, but they're not an MC, lol 😉

Unfortunately, I cannot say much positive in the decision to add a second narrator. Kirk is a master and both book 1 & 2 were performed very well alone. Silas, in my opinion pulled me out of my groove every single time he took the chapter.

Not the voice in my head for the character at all. I wanted to hear the story because it's good, so I made myself deal with him, but I think he will become a narrator on my 'probably not' list.

If Beverly Hills 90210 was a teenage romance novel

Somehow I missed that the MCs in this book are all still in high school.
While that threw me for a loop, I did finish the book and found it to be okay.

The narration was solid, as I would expect from these 2 narrators.
It is the story itself that I found difficult to fully throw myself into. For me personally, I would have found it more realistic if these had been at the very least college students - with ages in their early 20's.

Not that the kids did anything in the story that many teenagers do - the sex, drinking etc are all typical.
The endless funds at their disposal, not so much. The idea that Nico is also this amazing lover is a bit hard to swallow too....

All in all, it was okay but it will not be one I listen to again.

I wanted to like this - really I did.
M/M is one of my favorite genres, although the GFY theme is not always one I can easily believe, as in this example.

I especially was disappointed in the journal entries - while I like the idea of a past and present storyline, I don't think the journal was the best way to do this. The journal was "written" like a conversation and play by play of conversations and actions that took place between the 2 boys - yet who actually writes a journal like this??? Nobody....

Just didn't work for me and I skipped through the latter ones.

The narration also was off putting to me - even though I like both narrators in general.
I think the book is so sickly sweet -no angst or roughness at all - even though both men in their late 20's - early 30's it just didn't seem true.
Maybe books where men talk only about "making love" just aren't for me, hahahaa. I want some of that, but I also want the spice and heat - and this book zero heat IMO.

I am going to go with overall of 4 stars because I really liked parts of this book very much, but I did have some issues with other story points.
It started off a bit slow IMO, but not enough that I considered not continuing.

The 2 main things I didn't connect with at all were:
1. The fiance's treatment /wedding outcome. I am not even going to toss out details, because if you read it you'll get it. This whole part was complete crap and made me lose so much of my understanding and connection to Cannon. It would have been much more satisfying for me to see him own his truth far sooner- and have even a sliver of respect for his 'best friend in the world' AND her parents who he claims became HIS family. I really envisioned a scene where she would catch on when she arrived unexpectedly to bring him back. That would have played better I think.
2. How Cannon's father handled their relationship. From the perspective of a mom with a 25 yr old, I can't imagine it. There was nothing in the story that showed Can's behavior to be so bad as to justify that level of fury from his father. No drugs, no school trouble, just a normal kid from all indications. The 1 phone call the first week was a big let down - not once did he say 'I'm sorry, please forgive me. Come home' Yet we're to believe that for years he wrote letter after letter confessing his regret and wish to reconnect - but felt he didn't want to push the issue and influence Cam?
Uhhh, NO, just dumb.

Otherwise, I liked the story and there were plenty of steamy scenes and moments where I was all sniffy and could feel my heart breaking. The length could probably been trimmed down, but I never felt like I needed to skip ahead. I liked the time frame and how it played out over several months.

The narrators were solid, although Michael Dean is sometimes too nasally for my tastes, but he narrates a shit ton in the M/M genre so I need to get over it lol.

If you like this trope, are able to overlook some fairly big character flaws then you might enjoy this.

This was definitely a hard won HEA - almost too much if that makes sense. I think it would have played a bit better with one less 'I can't do this' walk away for now moment...but I will say that this is the only book I have read in this series - so I am left to assume that perhaps the long drawn out time line in this book, was required so it match the timelines in the others, as it appears they are all interwoven at times.

The narration was great.
The chemistry and heart clenching moments were perfect. I am also so happy to see a book with what seems like IRL dialogue.

Besides the minor frustrations I felt with Adam and his behavior - especially after Seth told him he loved him, I really liked the book a lot.
