… this story could have been told about 2 hours shorter. The character development was good, but the book was waaay too long. The narrators did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed it.

I like how the characters were like onions in that each layer that was peaked away slowly released a bit more of their backstory and psyché. A very well written story.

Both men clueless about the other

Doesn’t sync well with the series

This seemed like it was a stand-alone book that only tangently connected to the rest of the series by throwing in two characters from the series in cameo roles in two or three chapters. Given the rest of the series, this is really disappointing.

That, other than the judge, there wasn’t an earth-shattering event about 2/3 through the book. I enjoyed the change.

I couldn’t

I couldn’t listen more than a few chapters with the narrator. Horrible!! Come on dude, add a little inflection in your voice. Add some different character voices, etc. The monotone thing you have going is totally boring and detracts from the story.

I Liked Everything, but …

I think this a great book/story and I enjoyed the narration. I was fine with all the voices. Very well written and produced.

Spoiler alert ahead:
My only complaint was the end. I don’t think the readers and listeners got closure. Okay, sure, we got this one, but where else is one of the gateways going to pop up? Also, we never got a true motive as to why these creatures are coming here.

Overall I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed it, but wish the aforementioned questions had been explained.

Oh my … I liked it.

The story is pretty good. As a writer myself, I can think of things I would have written differently, but then, that is one writing style vs another and is not comparable. To that end, I REALLY enjoyed the ‘cut’ scenes. It was very interesting to see alternate ideas, and potential plot tangents that didn’t make it into the original book series.

I found that Indy and Connor’s voices were the same. I had difficulty differentiating between the two unless it was obvious who was speaking (as it usually was). Then again, I’m from coastal NC. I have a thick accent as well. So who am I to judge Boston (rhetorical)?

Overall a good read/listen. I am looking for more from this same author and/or narrator.

I definitely suggest reading (or listening to) this series. I enjoyed it a lot.
