Way too predictable.

The reader is great. Unfortunately, the story is so predictable I kept thinking it was a plot twist or an attempt to trick the reader. It wasn't, it's just that simply predictable. For the best assassin in a galaxy he has zero imagination or skill. There is a magic system that is not explained at all. I made it to book 2, but had to stop at the more than obvious trap and lame plot twist I again know is ahead in the story. The main character (master assassin of the galaxy) is just so lame, he didn't show any fighting skill or magical power. The few times "fighting" supposedly happened in the story the author skipped over it like a cut scene.

not original, repetitive

the performance was fine. the story was ehh. i listened to all but the last 2ish hours. as soon as the third.... "round" came yet again i couldn't handle listening anymore. i try to complete a book once started no matter what. however, i made an exception for this one. in addition to that feal breaker the un- original character building of "aliens" was disappointing. apparently all other planets in the galaxy are just like earth with biology matching earth identically...

of course its a great story. Mr. Jim Dale is by far the best reader I've ever listened to (ive clocked over a month if reading time). each character has a very distinctive voice and he switches between them flawlessly. confers to you sir, you've now set the bar very high.

the only thing i wish was different is leaving the interview out at the end. i dont like listening to the same interview at the end of each book.

love the author and story

the story is fantastic and one of my all time favorites. in regards to the reader id give 0of5 stars but it won't go lower than 1. her regular voice for narration is beautiful and i wish she just used it for the entire book, buy she does not. the voices she makes for the men are inconsistent and down right horrible. i especially hated how she made Riamfada speak. he was only crippled and she gave him a huge speech impediment. it was horribly difficult to listen to that part of the book and was quite offensive to me. crippled doesn't mean mentally deficient. ive read all 4 books multiple times and was really looking forward to listening to it while i worked. unfortunately, i could not bare to listen to those horribly fake accents and made it about 1/3 through this book and will return it. so unfortunate and disappointing.
