Inspiring, informative, and life-changing
Revisado: 03-02-23
I have read all four audio books about the Yellowstone wolves by Rick McIntyre. I have not only gotten a better understanding and appreciation of wolves, but I have developed a feeling of kinship with them. They have helped me understand myself as a human animal. While reading these books, I have felt my interconnectedness with all things in nature and I am a better person for it! Thank you for offering these books on audible!

Historia
A lover, not a fighter. That was wolf 302. A renegade with an eye for the ladies, 302 was anything but Yellowstone’s perfect alpha male. For starters, he fled from danger. He begged for food from other wolves, ditched females he’d gotten pregnant, and even napped during a heated battle with a rival pack! But this is not the story of 302’s failures. This is the story of his dramatic transformation. And legendary wolf writer Rick McIntyre witnessed it all from the sidelines.

Wolves are great teachers

One of the most. Intriguing and interesting books, I have read on wildlife. It makes me want to go to Yellowstone National Park to see the wolves! I have also learned a lot about human behavior as well!

Historia
Jane Grey was queen of England for nine days. Her father and his allies crowned her instead of the dead king's half sister, Mary Tudor, who quickly mustered an army, claimed her throne, and locked Jane in the Tower of London. When Jane refused to betray her Protestant faith, Mary sent her to the executioner's block, where Jane transformed her father's greedy power grab into tragic martyrdom.

The Last Tutor

The story about the Gray sisters was interesting to a point. A lot of the narration detailed Elizabeth I's cruel treatment of Catherine and Mary Gray, which was entirely possible, but historically questionable. While I have thoroughly enjoyed Gregory's other novels this was not my favorite. However, it was not a bad read.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Norse Mythology at its best
Revisado: 04-07-17
I loved Neil Gaiman's dramatization of the Norse Gods. Listening to him was like participating in the adventures, mishaps, and celebrations of the gods In Valhalla. All I needed was a horn of beer to feel like I was actually there. I would recommend this book for those interested in comparative mythologies, but especially history and literature teachers who want their students to understand the old Norse mentality. It is one of my treasured books along with Beowulf. And it is a lot of fun to read!

Historia
Author and historian Tom Holland returns to his roots in Roman history and the audience he cultivated with Rubicon—his masterful, witty, brilliantly researched popular history of the fall of the Roman republic—with Dynasty, a luridly fascinating history of the reign of the first five Roman emperors. Dynasty continues Rubicon's story, opening where that book ended: with the murder of Julius Caesar. This is the period of the first and perhaps greatest Roman emperors. It's a colorful story of rule and ruination, from the rise of Augustus to the death of Nero.

Dynasty: a fascinating journey through Ancient Rome
Revisado: 04-27-16
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book by Tom Holland. It gave me a glimpse of the character of each of the Caesars in the dynasty of Augustus. Set against the backdrop of The world ruled by the Romans, they were cast as very human men who tried to rule the known world as Gods. What they had to contend with--scheming relatives, placating the Roman people, and making the world secure with ambitious generals mirrors our own times. There is a lot we can learn from both their mistakes and their triumphs.
