Historia
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried though space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). It plays by different rules. But then, some things are the same everywhere. The Disc’s very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the world’s first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land.

Colin Morgan's Rincewind gave the story life
Revisado: 08-18-23
I've listened to the entire Discworld series with the original narrators and enjoyed them. However, the Rincewind cycle had to be my least favorite. I enjoy spoofy humor to an extent but need the characters to be somewhat grounded in order to really get into the story. I love Nigel Planer's understanding of Pratchett's humor and he will forever be THE voice of Death, but Colin Morgan was able to make Rincewind actually interesting to me. I'm pleasantly surprised and looking forward to the rest of the Rincewind books.

Historia
A sourcerer is born in Discworld: a wizard so powerful that he makes all other magicians look like a bunch of fools in pointy hats. Now, suddenly, Discworld is brought to the brink of an all-out thaumaturgical war. The only hope for peace is Rincewind, the failed magician who has a risky plan to save the world. He enlists the help of several odd new characters, including Conina the barbarian hairdresser, Nijel the Destroyer, and a yuppie genie who sees lamps as a growth industry.

Poor recording quality and ho hum story
Revisado: 12-29-17
The quality of the audio is very poor. Nigel is a fantastic reader. The trouble is on the technical end. And this is not Pratchett’s best, I think.

Historia
The story is set circa 1790 in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (based on Tarrytown, New York), in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow. It tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lean, lanky, and extremely superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut, who competes with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town rowdy, for the hand of 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel. As Crane leaves a party he attended at the Van Tassel home on an autumn night, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman....

Excellent narrator, lame effects
Revisado: 10-16-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Martin Jarvis does an excellent reading here, but the attempt to dramatize the story with the use of music and additional voice actors posing as witches and singers took away from the quality of the audiobook. The story doesn't need help to amplify the creepiness. The additional narrator summarized each "chapter" before it started. Why? It's a very short story and simple to understand. The witches were lame and the songs were painful to listen to. I felt it was an attempt to beef up the story and the length of the program, but very poorly executed.
