Historia
Sometimes it can seem as if friends are more work and pain than they're worth, with friendship challenges that we have to endure and struggle through. Life gets in the way of our well-intentioned efforts to connect. Conflicts and differences over serious issues divide us and make us think that we could never be close to a person ever again. How can we build real relationships that are life giving and pass the test of time? Bryan Loritts mines one of the Bible's least-known books for insights into how friendships can flourish even in the midst of sin and brokenness.

Great and needed look at relationships.

Easy read and much needed. The use of onesimus and Philemon brings to life the tensions of most friendships. Well done articulating these things often felt but mostly also often wrongly names. I did find the authors insistence on articulating the punctuation (parentheses, quotations) very unneeded. And at times an obstacle to staying with the story.

If you ask a New York Knicks fan about Charles Oakley, you better prepare to hear the love and a favorite story or two. But his individual stats weren’t remarkable, and while he helped power the Knicks to 10 consecutive playoffs, he never won a championship. So why does he hold such a special place in the minds, hearts, and memories of NBA players and fans?

Oak is One of a kind
Revisado: 03-01-24
Good story, especially if 90s nba is your thing. I definitely think Oakley tends to spin things in his favor. His version of events often conveniently has him the hero. But it’s his book! Choppy reading style. But enjoyable nonetheless. I was a huge Oakley and knicks fan in late 80s and 90s. Fun to relive some of it.

Historia
General Stonewall Jackson was like no one anyone had ever seen. In April of 1862 he was merely another Confederate general with only a single battle credential in an army fighting in what seemed to be a losing cause. By middle June he had engineered perhaps the greatest military campaign in American history and was one of the most famous men in the Western World. He had given the Confederate cause what it had recently lacked: hope.

A great story, well told
Revisado: 08-19-23
Stonewall Jackson and his story were well represented here, and the oddities and extraordinary leadership of this man well captured. A great read. I have to wonder, would we be two countries or one had the timing of his death been different.

Historia
John Feinstein has already taken listeners into the inner circles of top college basketball programs in The Legends Club. This time, Feinstein pulls back the curtain on college basketball's lesser-known Cinderella stories - the smaller programs who no one expects to win, who have no chance of attracting the most coveted high school recruits, who rarely send their players on to the NBA. Feinstein follows a handful of players, coaches, and schools who dream, not of winning the NCAA tournament but of making it past their first or second round games.
