I’m about half way thru… I really like the story and the narrators are really great.. However, the weird “dramatic” music randomly played at the beginning of some of the chapters is so incredibly annoying!!! It’s distracting and takes me out of the story every time it happens. I find it so irritating that I’ve been temped to stop listening and return the book. The stupid music doesn’t happen at every new chapter which is good but it makes me wonder like why? Why play it at all. It would be such a great listen if that was just removed completely. The other sound effects, background noise in the bar/coffee shop, the waves and the birds in marsh, etc… those aren’t nearly as annoying as the awkward dramatic music. I think other reviews have mentioned this… I didn’t understand how annoying it was until I listened for myself. I hope I can continue the book bcuz like I said, the story and the narrators are both really good. It sucks to have such an unnecessary thing affecting the listen as a whole.

No means no. She said no. He took her anyway. I don’t care if they ended up falling in love or whatever bullshit story came after. The MC “good guy” raped her. The author attempts to make rape sound romantic and, like lipstick on a pig, it doesn’t work. That’s the end of my interest in this author.

Can’t get past the narration.

I wanted to like this… I love Scotland, Highlander’s and time travel but I can’t stand the narration. I tried several times for multiple days but there is something just off with his inflection at the end of every single sentence that drives me mad. It doesn’t matter if it’s a question, a statement or an exclamation… the inflection rises making it sound wrong. I can’t even get past it enough to just focus what’s happening in the story. It’s sort of sing song sounding… maybe? I don’t even know how to explain it properly. It just sounds WRONG. I’ve listened to so many Scottish, Irish, English and Australian narrations…. I PREFER them. But this.. this I just can’t. It’s so incredibly annoying. I would really like my credit back please.

Hated Eve’s choices and actions through the first half of the book so much I wanted to stop listening. I get that she had a lot of trauma but she treated Liam so poorly I wanted to smack her myself many times. I was so irritated with her behavior, I found myself not caring at all about HEA for her. Eventually she stopped being ridiculous, so I stopped hating her and was happy that Liam finally got the ending he deserved.
