Historia
It began in a women's club in London on a February afternoon. A discreet advertisement in The Times, addressed to "Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine..." lures four very different women away from the dismal British weather to San Salvatore, a castle high above a bay on the sunny Italian Riviera. There, the Mediterranean spirit stirs the souls of Mrs Arbuthnot, Mrs Wilkins, Lady Caroline Dester, and Mrs Fisher, and remarkable changes occur.

Good narration and sweet story of disgruntled women reviving love and finding love. The beautiful Italian villa was the setting conducive to love.

Historia
One of the greatest novels to have come from the 19th century, a realistic, gritty exposure of the lives, loves, intrigue and rivalry that existed in the literary world of London. The art form and culture of writing is becoming a business, expanding rapidly, and profit is more important than integrity of purpose.

I wasn't happy with the ending. I looked at Jasper as a shallow man, undeserving of Marian, but to end with him being happy while Marian was left alone and unhappy, left me sad.

Great narrator! Trollope is an excellent story writer. He shows how marriages can come against their foes and resist temptations. Honor, fidelity and commitment enhance a marriage.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

I love Trollope‘s description of persons. He delves into their personalities splendidly and reveals truthfulness, hypocrisy, deceit and duplicity like no other writer can do.

Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

This story was a little convoluted. It was deep and even profound, but it was a slow start, and had almost too many characters to keep track of. I didn't like all the swearing either. It did keep me entertained once i got the direction of the story, but it demanded close attention.

This was the second book of Benedict Brown’s that I've listened to. I like his style of relating the inner impressions of Chrissy.…a 16 year old that is growing in knowledge while being plagued with doubt. Great method of teaching investigative ability, too.

Suspense and mystery until the end
Revisado: 11-03-23
Wilkie Collins is one of my favorite authors. Vivid depictions of characters and even though a long book, it's easy to pick back up at each reading. It's hard to imagine how incomplete the law was in past times, to establish innocence or guilt.
