This was a great story. Hilarious. Listened to it using Audible upon my wife's suggestion. Wil Wheaton did a great narration.
Now I'm a little suspicious of my cats :)

The ISC created me for one purpose: to accept pain. I move from one test subject to the next, taking their physical and emotional struggles away. When Subject 869, an alien alpha with crimson eyes and merciless hands, demands more from me, I can’t give him what he wants most: my pleasure.

Great audiobook with dark action, violence and spicy times as well.
Revisado: 05-05-23
This is Book 4 of the Warrior Elite series. I have not listened to the previous books in the series, but I was able to jump into the story without too much trouble. I’m sure the extra background from the previous audiobooks would only enhance the experience. The same male narrator voiced all of the audiobooks, so the continuity is great. Male characters were voiced by Curt Bonnem. Female characters were voiced by Tieran Wilder. As another reviewer has said - “ Really glad that two narrators were used – it makes such a difference to hear male dialogue with a male voice and female dialogue with a female voice.“ I have to say I liked both narrator’s voices, but my favorite was Tieran Wilder. Her female narration had an extra depth that really resonated with me.
This is a dark Omegaverse where Alphas rule, Betas obey and Omegas just try to live. Sometimes an Alpha finds his “perfect match” Omega, this is that story. The “bad guys” are the International Science Corps or ISC; to the majority of the galaxy they are good. The truth is that they are doing inhumane experiments. Lyc is an Alpha male and part of the resistance. He also has premonitions or visions, but when the events he “sees” will actually occur is vague at best. Lyc is captured by the bad guys and ends up at one of the ISC’s “test” facilities. He is dubbed “Subject 869” in this prison and is thrown together with the female known only as “Subject 66C”. She has only ever known this painful prison. Her role is to pry the hurtful rage and thoughts from other rampaging subjects. Essentially calming them with her ability. The story definitely has some dark themes, so be aware. Lyc recognizes Subject 66C as his “one” - his mate. The story revolves around their relationship and how they can escape this dark, dark prison. A few of the cruel jailers find their bad karma “returning” to them so to speak. Great audiobook with dark action, violence and spicy times as well. The chemistry between these two is off the scale. This Omegaverse is action packed with a great HEA.

But when Renn follows the Tecran ship into an uncharted sector, and realizes the Tecran have been working their way to a secret moon base, he suddenly understands things are not as they seem.

Great story about first contact, what defines “sentience” and “humanity” and the power of friendship and connection.
Revisado: 04-26-23
I disagree with the naysayers. This is the last book in a 5 book series. Yes, it has a female main character in each book. And they have an AI and a male main character. But the circumstances are different. Briefly, a belligerent race called the Tecran abduct human women. Needless to say, there is some in-fighting and trying to outdo one another occurring between different Tecran factions on how to treat the humans. Some wonder if humans sentient, when compared to Tecran. Others have different views.
This last book deals with an abducted woman who is in a coma on a far off science station of the Tecran. And of course, the station is “illegal “ within the Ruling Council of Planets. Tecran so are Definitely the “bad”/evil side.
Without giving too much away, the human woman is helped by an AI and their robots. And another alien race that are honorable. The narration and voices are spot on. I could easily tell which character was speaking, and what alien race they were.
I would highly recommend listening to this series starting with Book 1. However, that being said, enough back story is included in this book that this could be listened to on its own.
I’m definitely a fan of this series. I’ve listened to the entire series twice already. Great story about first contact, what defines “sentience” and “humanity” and the power of friendship and connection. Sometimes the connections we make, matter the most. ….and some nice romance is included as well.
Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Historia
Denise Cartwright never imagined how life-changing an android assistant could be. When she finds Codi thrown in a dumpster behind her favorite New Carnegie bar, she agrees he can stay for as long as he likes. He's ridiculously hot, smart, and great with kids. He doesn’t judge her busy lifestyle or her cluttered house. What more could a woman ask for? Awakening desires she hasn't felt in years, Codi seems too good to be true. Cybernetic programming might come in handy, sure. But love? Love is a let-down, and her son Lucas comes first.

Stellar second book in New Carnegie Android series
Revisado: 06-24-22
This is my second audiobook and story that I’ve listened to by Roxie McClaine. This second book in the New Carnegie Android series exceeds expectations. You don’t need to listen/read the first book Oliver to enjoy this one. However it does enhance the backstory and characters mentioned in it.
The setting is still New Carnegie, Pennsylvania. Becca (from the 1st book “Oliver”) and her best friend Denise are out for ladies night. On their way out of a pub, they encounter a group of thugs beating and trying to burn an android next to the dumpsters.
Denise, firecracker that she is, steps into the fray and gets rid of the thugs. She tries to talk to the Android, but he doesn’t remember who he is, where he came from or anything at all. Weird that the Android has amnesia, it almost seems like an intentional mind wipe.
Denise ends up allowing the new Android to stay at her house. He takes the name Codi. He is astounded that Denise treats him as an equal not a slave. It doesn’t take long for the flame of romance to spark between Denise and Codi. Denise is a confident and attractive woman; she has no problems spending time with Codi. Even more so because Codi takes care of Denise’s 5 year old son, Lucas.
The story evolves with the growth of Codi in to his “new” life with Denise and Lucas. However, the mystery of his origins pops up at the least expected time and threatens their relationship.
You’ll have to listen to this compelling audiobook involving finding oneself, connecting with one another, deep passion and triumphing over the odds. You won’t be able to stop listening to go to sleep! (Just one more chapter)
New and previous readers of Roxie McClaine will be thoroughly entranced with Codi and Denise’s passionate and steamy romance. Guaranteed HEA and steamy scenes aplenty - you should listen to this audiobook!.

Historia
A prototype with a fierce primary directive: Protect her. Oliver is a super-computer built inside a supermodel body; the most luxurious android invented to date. Left collecting dust in storage because of a packaging error, he's finally activated from his prolonged sleep, eager to please his beautiful new owner. But she's running from a toxic past, and it's catching up to her. His directives are clear: Care for Becca. Protect her. It should be illegal for an artificial man to be as gorgeous as Oliver is.

Put this story on your Audible list!
Revisado: 06-16-22
Becca is new to the city of New Carnegie. The story starts as she just moves into the city with the help of her two best friends. The same day she moves in, her girlfriends take her to a BioNex store and convince her to get an Android - as their treat! She picks out an android who she then names Oliver.
The story follows Becca’s new foray into android “ownership“. She loves the things that Oliver is able to do for her, like unpacking her moving boxes while she is at the office, or making dinner from scratch and have it ready for her as she returns home from work. And it’s not just the chores that enjoys, the “view” of Oliver while he’s doing those chores is not to shabby either. Becca becomes smitten with Oliver and starts questioning her romantic feelings for him.
Intertwining her story are short snapshots of current events in New Carnegie. Those current events detail the influx of androids into the work force resulting in a rise in unemployment rates and also an increase in violence against androids.
Becca’s feelings for Oliver are confused and this cyberpunk romance details the usual and “unusual “ between the two of them. There are steamy scenes a plenty but also the realistic “getting to know you” phase of a budding relationship. There are some scenes with an ex-boyfriend and his verbal and physical abuse, both past and present, of Becca. He stalks Becca to her new place. More scenes follow, which I’m not divulging to avoid spoilers. There is a Happily Ever After, but it does take time.
I was very happy to have found this audiobook by Roxie McClaine. I’ve never listened (aka “read”) her before and really enjoyed the story, oftentimes staying up late to listen to “just another chapter “. Definitely a must listen.
