I am totally charmed by T Kingfisher by the fourth paladin book. I am totally charmed by the narrator too. I put down the first book to never return but could not stop thinking about it. I am so glad i gave the series another chance. So, while waiting for book 5, i going to ck out her other books.

How did this book go by so much faster than the first two? Some interesting bits about the small harry people-animals? The maze was bizarre (lol two z’s). I like it when prejudices are revealed and made to look ridiculous. On to the next one . . .

I swore i wasn’t going to get the second book in the series. I failed. The only thing i didnt like about this book was the amount of time without other characters than the main two. Putting these books on 1.15 speed helps a lot. I cant wait to start the next one.

Mixed bag

I wanted to cry at first, for trusting book ‘influencers’. I sped up the timing to 1.15 and that helped. The story at first is so slow regardless of the vocal timing. I got a story that was so unexpected. Instead of killing all over the place (which i didnt want anyway) it is a story of survival for two people who happen to meet. Im now curious about the next book but i dont know if i will bite. Great romance fraught with danger. Love the conversations.

Already on book 8

I am so happy to have found this author with books 1-8 already on audible. I am hoping book 9 will come out in jan 2025 when i renew. The author is the narrator and does a fantastic job. Scottish is one of the hardest accents for me (american) but i understand marion very well. Think sean connery. There are books (my favs) where i just ‘fall’ into . . meaning they keep me engaged all the way through. I get some of the comments on too much police procedural stuff but i find it fascinating. The character claire has a nose for worming out what may be happening. Her sidekick chris doesnt always. Finding out what happened is different than building a police case. Now i realize how hard a police job is to do correctly and with a lot of gray areas in-between. All of the books could be read out of order so far but why would you want that? Each case is different and interesting. Real up to date stuff.

Great series

The best narration. This book does not disappoint. Story continues with many surprising twists and turns. The worse thing is having to wait for the next book in the series. Thank you, Deborah Harkness for the lengths you must go to for such detail. That makes the book interesting and not boring. I enjoy this series so much that i have to listen to it many times to catch it all.

MM is very open & engaging.

I didn’t know much about MM so I was entertained by her thoughts and memories. No wonder she has made a good living in voice work! This book is not boring like some autobiographies. I had seen her documentary on Australia and had enjoyed it very much so thought I would try this book. No regrets.

I cannot critique Charlaine Harris’ books anymore. I love her style of writing so much. She writes fantasy like it is real. It is not predictable. I am so happy to read the next new book. I am always anticipating the next one. I am looking for books to fill the void in between. That is not easy to do after reading CH books. She touches on so many issues that relate to real issues happening today. I must have read the Sookie books 20 times by now. Each time (as I age) I find so much to think about. I am addicted.
