Great story, awful narrations
Revisado: 02-10-23
Loved this story. Fascinating history that is little known. Narration was horrible. Felt like I was listening to a Dick Tracy radio show from the 50’s. So overdone and exaggerated. It was annoying.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Harry should narrate all books
Revisado: 01-19-23
I don't know if I would have liked this as much without Harry's voice. But I really liked it. Especially the beginning to hear of all that transpired after Diana passed away. It was heartbreaking. The love story with Megan is very sweet and I am happy for them that they found love in a loveless world, truly. But what I am most pleased with is that Harry learned from his mother's suffering and stood up for his new family and wouldn't let the policies of the Royal system ruin them. It has its consequences that they will have to accept, but good on them for speaking out.

Historia
Liesl Bannon has never felt like she was truly at home anywhere, not since her mother placed her and her brother Erich on the last Kindertransport out of Berlin in 1939. She’d been so much more fortunate than most Jews, saved from the horrors of the Nazi regime. Being adopted by Elizabeth and Daniel Lieber meant she and Erich spent the war in Northern Ireland, safe and loved, but Liesl always knew something was missing. When an opportunity to return to Berlin to represent her university presents itself, she is so torn.

Absolutely loved this story
Revisado: 01-19-23
I didn't know this was the 3rd book in a series otherwise I would have started from the first. Didn't matter though. Excellent compelling story. And the narration was just fabulous. Siobhan Waring is a dream for audio books. I got a few other Jean Grainger books and the narration is horrible. Irritating voices. But the ones they got Siobhan Waring to do are just such a pleasure to listen to and enhance the story 100%.

Historia
Queensland, Australia, 1936. Sister Claire McAuliffe has been called from Dungarvan, County Waterford, to do God’s work in Jumaaroo, Queensland. Along with four other sisters, she is charged with setting up a Catholic school for the education of the gold rush families. But life between the tropical Australian rainforest and the azure ocean is far from the spectacular paradise it seems. Sister Claire finds life challenging in more ways than she can count, but far more worrying is the constant presence of the much-loved mayor of Jumaaroo, Joseph McGrath.

I thoroughly loved this book. Am traveling for the first time to Australia in a few months and wanted to read something to get me in the mood for the trip. It was such an excellent story and so well told. It was funny and poignant. When I heard the epilogue at the end of how the author came to write the story, I loved it even more. The narrator is also FABULOUS. I would listen to her read the phone book. Such an incredible job with voices and accents. Thank you! Looking forward to discovering more Jean Grainger books.

My favorite ever
Revisado: 11-02-21
This book is gorgeous. The story paints the most vivid picture of a little known place and time. The narration is equally as gorgeous. There is nothing better than having a narrator who has the matching accent to the story and can pronounce the names and places they way they were meant to be read and heard. Bravo. I have listened to this story at least 10 times and never get tired of it.
