Every object has a ghost. There is a small yellow backpack - half unzipped, mouth yawning to the pavement, contents strewn around it (a banana, an exercise book, a pair of scissors) - abandoned on a suburban footpath. Ten feet away, the rubber stamp of tyres, resisting clamped brakes, mount the curb and cut across the path. The tracks come to an end at a crippled stop sign. The street, a tree-lined suburban road dappled in late-afternoon sunlight, is calm. But anyone walking past can feel the ghosts: the prickle on the back of their necks that tells them something happened here.

Having recently finished the Fury series, and loving it, I started this series with high hopes. I finished it solely on the hope that it would eventually get good. It didn't. It's not the worst thing I've ever listened to but I'll be returning it.

I started this series just hoping it wouldn't be dumb. I was extremely pleased with all 4 books that are out thus far! The story is engaging and hooks you from the start. The narrator is simply wonderful! I really think she could read the periodic table and I would be glad to listen.

pleasantly surprised

I started this book not expecting much and feeling like I would probably be returning it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I loved it! Plot twists and lots of action keep you engaged and guessing what's coming next.
The only thing I didn't like is the music inserted at seemingly random intervals in the performance.

I thought it was going to be a slow starter but found myself riveted from the beginning. The first hand views from the various characters was interesting and not at all confusing, as it can easily be.

The narrator could slow down, enunciate his words. The writing is very juvenile.

What didn’t you like about Jason Damron’s performance?
He read WAY too fast. In fact I had to turn the speed down just to understand him. He needs to learn to convey urgency in his voice without sounding like he's on speed.

the story is a good one but there are LONG stretches where the author goes into minute technical detail about how the various technologies work. If you enjoy that you will certainly enjoy this book. Personally I found myself glazing over the tech sections....but the story itself is very good.
