Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Very, very enjoyable
Revisado: 10-01-24
I never listened to a LitRPG or whatever they call this, but I loved it. It's basically World of Warcraft but with real people who know they're in WoW. The voice acting is phenomenal and I kept wanting to listen more to find out what was going to happen next. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Which already happens to be downloaded.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Great Story and Mostly Great Performance
Revisado: 12-20-23
I really enjoyed this story. I've read Sawyer's "Neanderthal" books and I really like his style. I will probably get more of his works
This story was really enjoyable! Brendan Fraser was absolutely great in it! Although he did sound slightly congested, but his cadence and tone were great for his character. Luke Kirby did a great job as Dr. Haas, but the weak point, the person who consistently took me out of immersion, was Vanessa Sears as CPT Garvey. She varied between being super, super dramatic to sounding like she was laughing when she was talking, though her character wasn't actually laughing. It felt very much like she was reading a script at a table read or the am-drams versus playing a character. A few times the characters spoke by repeating an unheard question, which isn't something I've ever known a real person to do, but it wasn't too bad except for one character, and they were minimally present.
The story was great. I particularly loved Valentina Solomon and her story, as well as how the other characters treated her. The light mystery and overall story left me genuinely curious to see how it would end and I couldn't totally predict the finale. It definitely left me wanting to know more about the characters and I truly enjoyed where it ended up
All in all, a great story and one I was very glad to listen to. Just wish they had found a different person to play CPT Garvey.

Excellent and Over Far Too Soon
Revisado: 11-22-23
I loved AYAD as a kid. I was there EVERY Saturday night for SNICK.
I remember with GREAT fondness listening to the stories of Sardo (NO Mister, accent on the "DOH"). The kid getting trapped in the pinball machine-arcade was right up my proverbial alley.
With the invention of streaming, I was able to introduce the show to my kids, who also loved it. They were young enough at the time that they even got a little freaked out and we had to go on hiatus, but now, at ten, they're back in again.
So when I found this podcast, I immediately downloaded it. We listened to it one rainy day on a short road trip to go to (of all things) a retro video game festival.
Well, we enjoyed it quite a bit. The season was short and took us the length of a drive from Salem, OR to Eugene, OR. The stories were -wildly- varied, from creepy supernatural to just...weird and off-putting. But the performances, though a bit over-the-top at times, were fitting in with the whole aesthetic of teens/pre-teens trying to scare each other with stories. The framing bit, of the kid doing his own podcast with his brother interfering, helped break a lot of the "oh my god, this is actually happening and is scary" potential, which made it a possible for even younger listeners to enjoy.
The stories themselves were fun. Imaginative, if a little derivative, but pretty much what you'd expect from the franchise if you watched as a kid, like I did. One genuinely creeped me out, one had an incredibly ridiculous ending...which became amazing after the narrator decided to present an entirely different ending! That made me and my kids laugh at how it went from shocking to hilarious. The final episode of the season was disturbing in all the right ways, and really fits the "gore-love" that my kids are in, without being actually too graphic.
All in all, an incredible series and I really hope another one is produced and distributed. Well worth the listen!

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

One Thing Takes Away
Revisado: 10-23-23
Fun story and I'm a super Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton fan. This is more like a radio play, which works well for me. The only thing that draws me back, the huge thing, is the voice actor for the main character Kate. It's a woman with a high pitched "waifu" voice...a perky anime character that's just...ear splitting. I practically cringed when she'd perform her part.
The rest is highly enjoyable. Wil Wheaton performs his usual evil perfection self and Felicia Day continues to embody excellence in a humble form. Sean Astin, London Hughes, and Neil Gaiman are excellent!
I wanted to love all of it...if it were just not for the -one- character.
