Historia
Celie has grown up poor in rural Georgia, despised by society and abused by her own family. She strives to protect her sister, Nettie, from a similar fate, and while Nettie escapes to a new life as a missionary in Africa, Celie is left behind without her best friend and confidante, married off to an older suitor, and sentenced to a life alone with a harsh and brutal husband. In an attempt to transcend a life that often seems too much to bear, Celie begins writing letters to God. The letters, spanning 20 years, record a journey of self-discovery and empowerment guided by the light of a few strong women.

Her words read the best from her
Revisado: 12-31-23
I 've read The Color Purple, watched it as a movie and play but hearing author Alice Walker read it was the best experience. she understood the characters and their stories. Two Sisters, and their struggle/community struggle filled with pain, learning, and forgiveness as each searched for love and place, a way back to each other. she gave life to her words like no one else can.

Thanks Ali Velshi
Revisado: 06-11-23
i was searching for an audio version of the Trump Federal indictment and was glad to see Mr. Velshi and MSNBC had one. He read it well and objectively. The indictment is especially upsetting for former national security employees like me. It's hard to believe a former POTUS would take risks with national security information. This is an important listen no matter the outcome of the case.

What would be justice?
Revisado: 02-13-23
Pomeranz discusses the prosecutor's process and competing philosophies/approaches/norms. It is very enlightening because our (my) understanding of the legal system is influenced by TV fiction and reality (not so real) court shows. When it comes to former POTUS Trump, Pomeranz attempts to hold him to a legal standand inspite of politics and Trump's power/influence. A difficult task in a flexible justice system.
I wish I could thank him personally for writing this book. It help me understand the challenges in pursuing justice as well as the power of Trump to manipulate out laws.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

i loved this book. It tells Harry's story, wounded from the death of his mother and determined not to lose his wife and kids to the pressure of the paparazzi. He lets himself be vulnerable as he tells his story. And he's a great reader!

As the only African-American soloist dancing with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland has made history. But when she first placed her hands on the barre at an after-school community center, no one expected the undersized, anxious 13-year-old to become a groundbreaking ballerina. Life in Motion is a story of passion and grace for anyone who has dared to dream of a different life.

More to the Montgomery Bus Boycott
Revisado: 06-04-22
Overall, it is a good read. It added additional detail to the personalities involved, tactics used, and legal process behind the Montgomery Bus Boycott/Protest. It clarifies the story behind Claudette Colvin, explains the Browder v. Gayle case and covers some of the personalities in the movement . The section on the bus driver's testimony was rushed and lacking specifics. that was a bit disappointing. The interview with Fred Gray was an enlightening bonus.

Historia
When he opened the FBI investigation into Russia’s election interference, Peter Strzok had already spent more than two decades defending the United States against foreign threats. His career in counterintelligence ended shortly thereafter, when the Trump administration used his private expression of political opinions to force him out of the Bureau in August 2018. But by that time, Strzok had seen more than enough to convince him that the commander in chief had fallen under the sway of America’s adversary in the Kremlin.

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

Interesting on process and foreign policy. Surprising how much he blamed President Obama for Trump's failures. I think he could have explained Trump and how the National Security apparatus worked better.
Robert Petkoff is a great reader.
