Historia
After saying goodbye to his life on earth, he never expected to find a brand new world still awaiting for him. One where immortals flew through the clouds and ancient evils hid below the surface. One where fables, myths, and legends filled every corner. One where he could finally start anew. Now, however, John is about to learn a valuable lesson, for any place humanity rules will always be the same - a domain where sin and ambition can only be tamed by power. Will he have the strength to walk this road on his own or will he be unable to heal the old wounds hidden deep within his heart?

Can’t believe this got past Alpha

Rarely have a listened to a series as poorly narrated or written as this book. I’m a pretty forgiving listener but I can tell the author of this book just did not elicit almost any outside experienced help writing this book. It’s crass, overly simplistic where it should be more sophisticated (the story) and really complex where it should be more simple (the idle system). I don’t recommend.

Historia
Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Really good book, really bad language.

I really enjoy this book just as I did the other two before it. The character development was very detailed, the described scenery was captivating, and the story was extraordinary even though it has hints of some of the classic like HG, and many of Sanderson's books. I just found out today that there is another coming out and I'm exiting to listen to that one as well.
The only issue I have with the book is the seemingly unnecessary amount of cursing and vulgarity. I could really see myself letting my children or spouse getting into this series as well except for the fact that I really wouldn't want my kids or wife hearing some of the stuff I mostly had to tolerate for the sake of an otherwise masterful story. Truth be told, had I known this book would contain the amount of cursing and vulgarity that it does, I wouldn't have read it in the first place. But by the time I found out it did, I was already too enraptured to stop before the ending. I'm sure many won't agree with this assessment, but for me, I just feel like adding vulgarity and the like to a story just lessens it. For this reason, I couldn't give this book or any other a perfect five.
