Excellent Start, Disappointing Finish

What would have made The Handyman better?
Somehow, the beginning of this book started out with a realistic but eerie undertone that promised so much - but towards the end of the book, it turned into a fantasy novel without warning. In fact, I had to drag the listening bar back twice in the last chapter to realize what was happening.
What could Bentley Little have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The end is dissatisfying. I feel like I invested so much time into the story and had built up an image of Frank that is at points of the narrative truly realistic and terrifying. But those narrative leads were dropped in favor of..what exactly? I don't know. This story feels like it lost its way.
What about Chris Andrew Ciulla’s performance did you like?
The performance was excellent for the story.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The first half of the book has all the makings of a cult classic in the realistic thriller genre. It build up the suspense beautifully too.
Any additional comments?
It feels like the author ran out of ideas or didn't know how to end the story so whirled all the potential and promise into a fantasy vortex. It's so disappointing, I expected this book to deliver much more at the end.

Interesting and unexpected

This is an interesting story. It has its faults- I found it overly formulaic at times, but overall it was a listen worth the credit. It's basically a hand wringing daytime period drama, but in a good way.
