Historia
Colette “Coco” Weber has relocated to her Catalina Island home, where, twenty years before, she was the sole survivor of a deadly home invasion. All Coco wants is to see her aunt Gwen, get as far away from her ex as possible, and get back to her craft—writing obituaries. Thankfully, her college best friend, Maddy, owns the local paper and has a job sure to keep Coco busy, considering the number of elderly folks who are dying on the island. But as Coco learns more about these deaths, she quickly realizes that the circumstances surrounding them are remarkably similar....

Meh
Revisado: 09-15-23
I had trouble the whole way through getting into it. The thoughts of the main character were confusing at times. The weird thoughts of an old lady sprinked in. It just didn't come together well. And the narration didn't help. Would not recommend wasting your time on this book.

Good story, wanted more
Revisado: 04-10-23
I enjoyed having multiple perspectives and narrators. The plot was good and fairly easy to follow. It was a little easy to guess the secret before revealed, though the resulting actions of the son were unexpected. The writing was good. I would've liked a reference to "present day" after the chapters referencing "3 months ago," though I got into the rhythm. In the end, I think there could've been another few chapters to close it out. The epilogue was a bit too short and nice a bow. The wife leaving was also a bit surprising and sad, though fair. I found the title odd since the story didn't feel centered around that character but rather the widow or her daughter, or even the lawyer, more. A worthy listen, though!

Historia
Pregnant and still grieving the death of her fiancé, historian Megan Buchanan is forging ahead on a dream project: to restore to its original glory the landmark hunting lodge her own great-great-grandfather built on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. With the help of her fiancé’s caring best friend, it’s sure to draw much-needed tourist revenue to Cape Hudson, a town rich in southern history. However, it’s Spring House, the caretaker’s cottage on the grounds, that holds the most intriguing history for Megan.

Good Follow Up
Revisado: 06-03-21
It was a good follow-up to Winter Cottage and I didn't find it as hard to follow as some reviewers, nor did the less extreme southern accent bother me. That said, these books always end sort of abruptly for me. I don't know if it's the narration or the story but it felt unexpected when it was done. Not all the story lines were complete, such isn't required but leaves you wanting. Good, overall.

Well kept secret
Revisado: 11-21-20
This book took me a long time in to figure it out. I knew something was off but was surprised how well the story kept it hidden. The very last monolog went a little long but otherwise, very good book!

Historia
Rye Mallett, a fearless "freight dog" pilot charged with flying cargo to far-flung locations, is often rough-spoken and all business, but soft on regulations when they get in the way of meeting a deadline. But he does have a rock-solid reputation: He will fly in the foulest weather, day or night, and deliver the goods safely to their destination. So when Rye is asked to fly into a completely fogbound northern Georgia town and deliver a mysterious black box to a Dr. Lambert, he doesn't ask questions.

too short

Coulda been a great, complicated story, but too short, over too soon. Performance was a little
stiff.

Conplex and engrossing story
Revisado: 03-23-17
The story really stretched out across generations and key points of racism, class and geography. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance in similar tongue and the twists.
