Great story
Revisado: 02-14-23
I just love the places that Stephen King’s mind takes us. Right to the end, little details you did not even think were relevant become gigantic. I also really like the way Seth narrates, it is not just a story… it is an experience. Thanks guys.

Historia
It is the greatest American underdog sports story ever told: how a team of college kids and unsigned amateurs, under the tutelage of legendary coach - and legendary taskmaster - Herb Brooks, beat the elite Soviet hockey team on their way to winning the gold medal at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. No one believed the scrappy Americans had a real shot at winning. Despite being undefeated, the US - the youngest team in the competition - were facing off against the four-time defending gold medalist Russians.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I was a little concerned because we all kind of know the story, and I saw some low reviews on the narrator, but I was blown away with the full story and I thought the narration was just fine. I grew up playing hockey and my three kids all play now (I coach them) and this was such a great book, especially in the heart of our hockey season. I hope to meet Mike some day, great book.

This book was simply excellent. The fact that he narrates it himself makes it even better. I have listened to over 100 books on Audible, this one is top 3.

Life lessons truely depicted through military
Revisado: 08-15-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Mission, the Men, and Me to be better than the print version?
The narrator definitely added to my personal experience listening to this book
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Pete, simply because the way hey took chaotic military situations and broke them down to show simple life lessons. I have spent some time in a combat zone, and I really related to leadership getting in the way of the guys on the ground. He nails it in this book.
Which scene was your favorite?
I really liked the scene in Afghanistan where his guys went in the way they wanted to, and controlled the battlefield by adapting to the situation. It really made me connect some dots to my civilian job, and some of the true lessons that came out of that whole experience.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was moved by the Bob, I think I am going to get my army buddies together and take that adventure.
Any additional comments?
If I ever get the chance, I would really like to shake Pete's hand. I personally use many of the lessons I learned in the military as an Infantry squad leader in everyday life, and it was so cool to experience this book, and read his story. I will say, this is a must read.
