Historia
Collette LeSange is a lonely artist who heads an elite fine arts school for children in upstate New York. Her youthful beauty masks the dark truth of her life: she has endured centuries of turmoil and heartache in the wake of her grandfather’s long-ago decision to make her immortal like himself. Now in 1984, Collette finds her life upended by the arrival of a gifted child from a troubled home, the return of a stalking presence from her past, and her own mysteriously growing hunger.

Boring, long and uneventful.

I really couldn't get into it. I was trying yo cling to the 1984 portion of the story but it didn't get any better.

Historia
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother. As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was.

Far-fetched story and annoying narration
Revisado: 06-09-21
I couldn't stand the narrator's voice. All her words were stretched out and slow. The story was entertaining but just when Hannah learns the truth the story lost me.

Exceeded my expectations!
Revisado: 10-16-18
I just finished An American Marriage. I loved it. It would be a great discussion book. friends told me that it took a while to get into but once I was I loved it. I actually took it out of the library so I could finish it quicker. However, listening to it was beneficial. I felt myself liking the female character more when she was telling the story. I didn't like her so much when someone was repeating her words, which I guess is what the author wanted. I am putting the same review on Goodreads so excuse the redundancy if you go on there.

Historia
Six months after Rupert Falkes dies, leaving a grieving widow and five adult sons, an unknown woman sues his estate, claiming she had two sons by him. The Falkes brothers are pitched into turmoil, at once missing their father and feeling betrayed by him. In disconcerting contrast, their mother, Eleanor, is cool and calm, showing preternatural composure. Eleanor and Rupert had made an admirable life together - Eleanor with her sly wit and generosity, Rupert with his ambition and English charm.

A lovely family story.....
Revisado: 08-14-17
I loved this book. I am sure that many people wouldn't give it 5 stars because the story itself isn't anything over the top. I loved the way it was written. The author tells the story in a unique way alternating between past and present and going deeper into explanations as she relays details from the point of view of several characters. A friend that read the book thought the ending was predictable. I found the ambiguity gratifying. The narrator did a fantastic job.

Historia
Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.

Cute...but that's not a compliment.
Revisado: 04-17-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was better than trying to surf Facebook (and safer) but not as good as catching up with a friend on my drive.
Would you recommend The Hating Game to your friends? Why or why not?
I am planning to recommend it at book club as a summer read with a bit of smut, only because that is what the hostess has asked for.
Which scene was your favorite?
Kissing in the elevator.
Could you see The Hating Game being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum
Any additional comments?
If I really dislike a book I abandon it. Life is too short to drink bad wine or finish a book you don't enjoy. I finished this book. It was cute. Cute like the main character in the book, Lucy. Cute like how the author drums in your head that Lucy is. The author actually repeats herself a lot. The book kept my interest and I am planning to recommend it at book club as a summer read with a bit of smut. However, it kept my interest because I believed that there had to be some revelation at the end of the book that wasn't as predictable as every other aspect of the story. There wasn't.
