Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Fun. Not art, very gory, but 100% fun.

Fantastic first novel

Many people have recommended this to me and I have put it off because I knew it was a series. I am glad that I did listen and that I did wait, because now I can blast right into the second book, and so can you. Moira Quirk’s abilities brings these characters to life, do not miss out on this thoroughly engaging story.

Historia
Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

Quite the ride
Revisado: 08-16-23
This story takes you where you think you’re going to go, but definitely not by the roads you expected to take. The main character’s story starts out already post trauma and revisits her story, while providing a more mature perspective and opportunity for healing and growth. This is not necessarily a story for those who have experienced traumatic events though, and it is worth noting that there are conversations about physical abuse, sexual inappropriateness, violence towards children and women, and should be approached with caution by those who may find these subjects disturbing.

Historia
Alyssa D'Yaragen is just an elf trying to make ends meet. Thankfully, working as a freelance thief - a runner by the street name Lysistrata — pays more than she would make in a month selling cell phones to retropunks at her antique shop. Though she's low-tech, she has an advantage over her fellow larcenists. She has magic.

Great narrative

Disclaimer: I am friends with the author
Weaver’s Folly is a great first novel, Sarah’s characters come to the page as well considered individuals with unique voices. Her narrative style is light hearted and incredibly readable. I picked up the audio for a trip to share with my family, which this book is largely family friendly, certainly YA appropriate, which my family loved. We are patiently awaiting the second book in this series!
