Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

The only redeeming element of this audiobook is Neil Gaiman's narration. The little girl's voice is so high- pitched, loud, and screaming that I stopped listening.

Even better on reading the second time
Revisado: 05-24-21
This time I savored the writing, the lovely images, and the author's insight into humanity. Also humor. The author is so brilliant. I'm fortunate to have found her, and to get lost in her magic.

Historia
Peter Diamond is tasked to run security for a wedding. Seems a bit beneath his extraordinary detective talents, as well as his title as head of Bath's CID, but this isn't your run-of-the-mill ceremony: the bride and groom belong to families on opposite ends of the law - and someone is trying to sabotage the nuptials by taking out a hit on the father of the bride.

Revisado: 08-22-19
Every one of the books in this series is excellent and this is among the very best best! Lovesey is always surprising, always ingenious, always exciting and suspenseful, without excessive violence (I get so sick ofseries in which the protagonist gets beat up or nearly killed in every book). I loved it.

Living and slaving in Fill City One, you get used to the smell. We call it the Everpresent Stink. But every once in a while, on a spring day with a breeze, it clears away enough to remind us that there is something more out there. Most Fillers' wildest dreams would be just to get past the walls and live in the mainland. But my dream? It’s a little bigger. I’m going to Mars.

A Fun Ride
Revisado: 08-13-19
This is a terrific book. Dystonian future and a little like The Hunger Games only with adults who have a sense of humor instead of teenage angst. The reader was excellent; there were some songs which she sang beautifully, a capella. I'm going to find everything else Rib Dircks has written!

But the reality is she's drowning in debt, has no prospects, and is forced to move back to Queens, where her parents remind her daily that they are very interested in grandchildren. Then, one morning, she is kidnapped, interviewed, and hired as an administrative assistant by the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection. Superheroes for hire, using their powers for good. What could possibly go wrong?

A Normal Life in an Abnormal World
- De Arthur D. Rich en 08-26-17
very fun and very funny
Revisado: 07-26-18
You know how the humor in some books is described as "side-splitting" or that they'll cause you to "belly-laugh" or to laugh out loud? Well, for this book it's true. And the narrator is GREAT. (There are tons of distinct characters and the narrator brings them and their accents to life.) I was walking my dog with my earbuds in and I almost fell down I was laughing so hard. My knees almost gave out. It's not, you know, sophisticated subtle humor so if that's what you want you won't love it, but I can't wait to read more by Alexander C. Jane.

super as usual
Revisado: 07-17-18
Drew Hayes can do no wrong. That said, this was a very long book.
The narrator is truly amazing. There are dozens and dozens of characters, yet every voice distinctively belongs to a specific character. That's astonishing, and made listening to such a dialogue-intense book so much more enjoyable, since the listener could tell who was speaking before the character was identified. Perfect inflection and personality for each character, too. so remarkable

This is a great series. It's exciting as well as laugh out loud funny sometimes. I challenge anyone to read the first one and not continue on. The narrator is terrific; I'm no expert on regional accents, but this rings true to me. And I love Skippy.
