Reminiscent of many well known classics

While this book was written well, I still felt several sections of the book were sluggish and unnecessary. It doesn’t pick up pace until about halfway through and even then I only continued because everyone else said it was worth it. It ended up being true. But the fact I nearly abandoned the book twice detracts a star from my overall rating.

A refreshing thriller

Some parts of this book may be upsetting to read, especially the scenes with children being harmed. The narrators were amazing though and I loved the clear difference between the two women. It had a twist that I saw coming and some tropes that annoyed me, which is why I gave it 4 stars. However, I did end up liking the characters against all odds and the ending was a satisfying way to close this chaotic story.

Great cast

This story has amazing sound design. I was listening with my work headphones and felt fully immersed in the environment. Plus you can never go wrong with Liam Cunningham as a voice actor.
