Loved this one!
Revisado: 02-04-25
I’ve read a few of Shauna Niequist’s books before and really enjoyed them, and this one was no exception. I love her writing and storytelling—there’s something about the way she shares her experiences that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. This book is simple in the best way. It doesn’t try to be overly polished or profound, but instead, it’s honest, thoughtful, and full of the kind of reflections that make you pause and feel less alone. She writes about change, uncertainty, and learning to let go of the expectations we place on ourselves, and she does it with her signature warmth and authenticity. It’s not a book full of easy answers, but that’s what makes it so good. Instead, it feels like a conversation with a friend who doesn’t have it all figured out but is willing to walk through the questions with you. A very great read, especially for anyone in a season of transition or uncertainty.

Historia
In the spring of 2021, Hannah Brencher found herself depleted and exhausted—and she knew the culprit was her constantly plugged-in lifestyle. Like so many of us, Hannah had been turning to her phone to cope with life in a time of isolation and uncertainty. Those coping mechanisms had calcified into habits she didn't know how to break. Sound familiar? That's when the nudge happened. Turn off your phone and keep turning off your phone. In The Unplugged Hours, Hannah demonstrates how the act of powering down changed her entire life.

Very encouraging and just what my heart needed!

Loved this book! It was exactly what my heart needed. Every page felt like a breath of fresh air, a gentle reminder to slow down and be present in a world that’s constantly rushing around. The writing was both raw and comforting, filled with lots of truths that encouraged me to reflect on my own habits and priorities. It’s been so motivating, especially when it comes to stepping away from my phone and truly savoring the moments right in front of me. It reminded me of the beauty found in quiet, in embracing stillness, and in seeking deeper connection with others. This is a book I will definitely be coming back to in the future—it’s a special one that inspires, challenges, and leaves you feeling a whole lot lighter and more grounded every time. Truly a gift and I’m so glad that I read it! Highly recommend!

Historia
Hell comes to Southern California every October. It rides in on searing Santa Ana winds that blast at near hurricane force, igniting voracious wildfires. Master thief Danny Cole longs for the flames. A tsunami of fire is exactly what he needs to pull off a daring crime and avenge a fallen friend. As the most devastating firestorms in Los Angeles’ history scorch the hills of Malibu, relentless arson investigator Walter Sharpe and his wild card of a new partner, Andrew Walker, a former US marshal, suspect that someone set the massive blazes intentionally, a terrifying means to an unknown end.

Great book
Revisado: 01-27-25
I really enjoyed this book. It is a very fast-paced, high-stakes story that is set against the backdrop of a devastating wildfire. The fire isn't just a setting–it's a relentless force driving the tension and testing the characters in many ways that you don't see coming. The twists throughout kept me interested and wanting to know what would happen next.
The characters feel real, each bringing their own unique perspective to the story. Some of the characters you are rooting for, others you question, and their paths intertwine in ways that keep you guessing throughout the story. The writing is vivid and it pulls you into the chaos, making you feel like you are there.
What I enjoyed most was how action-packed the plot was with a great balance of real moments as well. It's definitely thrilling, emotional, and thought-provoking all at the same time. It was fun to read about places that I've actually been to. This brought something special and made the story that much more immersive. If you are into stories that have action and heart, this one is definitely a must-read. This was my first Lee Goldberg book that I've read, and it definitely won't be my last. Looking forward to reading more of his stories in hopes they are as enjoyable as this one!
