Historia
One of the two major philosophical traditions of the twentieth century was linguistic analysis, derived largely from Wittgenstein. The other, diametrically opposed, came from Heidegger, and its fundamental question was, "What is the meaning of existence?" For Heidegger, this question could not simply be "analyzed away". It was beyond the reach of logic or reason. It was the primary "given" of every individual life. To confront it, Heidegger needed to develop an entire new form of philosophy.

Historia
In an age when philosophers had scarcely glimpsed the horizons of the mind, a boy named Aristocles decided to forgo his ambitions as a wrestler. Adopting the nickname Plato, he embarked instead on a life in philosophy. In 387 B.C. he founded the Academy, the world's first university, and taught his students that all we see is not reality but merely a reproduction of the true source. And in his famous Republic he described the politics of "the highest form of state."

Good short story, but forgettable
Revisado: 10-25-22
It was a good story and I liked how they had a full cast for it with sound effects that really put the listener in the zone, but the story was forgettable. Story had some decent twists.

Historia
By now, the low-carb diet's refrain is a familiar one: "Bread is bad for you. Fat doesn't matter. Carbs are the real reason you can't lose weight. In The Low-Carb Fraud, longtime leader in the nutritional science field T. Colin Campbell outlines where and how the low-carb proponents get it wrong: Where the belief came from that carbohydrates are bad and why it persists despite all the evidence to the contrary. The foods we misleadingly refer to as "carbs" aren't all created equal, and treating them that way has major consequences for our nutritional well-being.

Very Useful Info in This Time

Very useful information these days considering the widespread belief in unhealthy low-carb diets. They may work, but it’s good to see researchers like this exposing the public health problems they cause!

Outstanding Dramatization

This dramatization brings one of my favorite classic stories to life! I was delighted to see in addition to the full cast of actors, the story comes complete with sound effects that made me feel immersed into the story, and classical musical accompaniment that enhanced the mood.

Historia
Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, the “Joyful Vegan,” has guided countless individuals through the process of becoming vegan. In The Joyful Vegan, she shares her insights into why some people stay vegan and others don’t. Understanding that the food is the easy part of being vegan, Colleen turns her attention to what she believes is the most challenging - dealing with the social, cultural, and emotional aspects: being asked to defend your eating choices, living with the awareness of animal suffering, feeling the pressure to be perfect, and experiencing guilt, remorse, and anger.

Good book with exceptions
Revisado: 10-23-22
Overall the book was good and the narration was decent, but it lacked much music or sound effects that make for a better audiobook experience.
One other criticism I have is how the author advocates vegans seek relationships with non-vegans, which I think is bad advice considering the large number of vegans posting on Reddit and other Internet forums and complaining about the major social problems that type of relationship type has created for them.
Regardless, the book had some interesting new information and perspectives that this vegan appreciated.

Boring story, disinteresting characters
Revisado: 10-16-22
I normally like these audio plays with actors playing the roles of characters in a story or novel, but this was tough to finish. I just couldn’t relate to the characters or story at all, and it was about uninteresting characters and an even less interesting plot.

Historia
Joseph is having a comically rough year. His job sucks, his relationship ended, he’s plagued by prank phone calls, and he nearly lost his father to the virus. When his best friend asks him to donate his sperm so that she can start a family, Joseph just can’t understand why anyone would bring a child into this calamitous world. The only bright spot is an intriguing new online relationship with an attractive internet “daddy” that has him rethinking his isolation until a series of revelations have him facing even bigger decisions about his future.

Bad Story
Revisado: 10-13-22
I don’t really understand why anyone would enjoy this story. I typically enjoy audiobooks that are essentially made into plays like theater style with actors, but this was bad writing and was not in any way thought-provoking.

Historia
Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson ( Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring) brings a palpable sense of joy and exuberance to her performance of Lewis Carroll's enduring classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The young and imaginative Alice grows weary of her storybook, one "without pictures or conversations", and follows a hasty hare underground - to come face to face with a host of strange and fantastic characters.
