Don't spend too much time thinking about this one
Revisado: 11-12-22
I have to write a review, these characters might be idiots, and the bad guy is the biggest idiot of them all. More people might've ended up dead by the end of the evening if he got his way, but he was guaranteed to be one of them. why in the world would you make a master plan that required that you spend the rest of your life physically attached to another person? oops sorry, can't go to the bathroom alone, can't fall asleep. I quit the book with 20 minutes left and ranted at my husband and he asked if they cleared it up? No, no they did not.

I never thought I’d stoop to sitting on Santa’s lap and asking him to bring me a boyfriend. In my defense, though, the man of my dreams had just knocked me into a store display 10 minutes prior, so I wasn’t exactly thinking straight. Hah, but when did I ever. I never thought I’d see Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome again. Imagine my surprise when I showed up at my parents’ house for the holidays, only to find out that my sister had asked Santa for the exact same thing I did - and he’d delivered early.

Getting better
Revisado: 02-27-22
Mal's back and this time Bryce joins him. This series is still not worth 3 credits, more relationship, more world building, more holes showing in. Not a ton of sex, but more is certainly implied.
Since you were introduced to Mal in the last one, you're allowed to get to know him and Bryce in this one. There's more story, and Mal and Bryce have character development to go through. You get to know more about the world, and get to less of a conclusion than the last one. You also spend a TON of time wanting to strangle Mal and a bit on Bryce - the story isn't moving fast enough for the amount of time they don't spend talking to one another or asking questions of anyone.
There's a lot of - I need an answer to this extremely important question! I can't tell you that now, we'll talking about it later. Why, well... cause the plot said so? Extremely important question still hasn't been answered 6 chapters later. Don't worry, everything gets wrapped up nicely with a bow in time for the finale.
You get to know David better and you still won't learn anything more about Alan, other than he spent a lot of time stuck in the past. You also learn more about the Faerie world - which other than the inhabitants seems rather interesting. You also get the impression that the world was created to keep all of the moronic seelie/unseelie inhabitants away from humans.

Historia
Temp worker David Evans has been dreaming of Dr. Alun Kendrick ever since that one transcription job for him, because holy cats, that voice. Swoon. So when his agency offers him a position as Dr. Kendrick’s temporary office manager, David neglects to mention that he’s been permanently banished from offices. Because, forgiveness? Way easier than permission. But cheeky David isn’t intimidated, and despite himself, Alun is drawn to David in a way that can only spell disaster: When fae consort with humans, it never ends well. And if the human has secrets of his own?

It's going places, but it's not seen here
Revisado: 02-27-22
If you're looking for a lot of sex- you aren't going to find it here. You'll find a delightful main character, excellent world building, an incidental romantic interest, and a lot of tension for not a lot of sex.
I finished the series, which honestly could be stuck together since it's really a 3 part story and not exactly 3 credit worthy.
I would've liked if they'd spent more time on the characters, especially in this one. I really felt like I got to know David, but other than Alan's obsession over what happened in his past. I didn't really feel like I ever got to know him or that he was more than incidental. I found the other two stories better for character development.
But you also didn't get a lot of relationship or sex. Mostly you got world building set up and David being horny. The story comes to a conclusion of it's own. But since you spent so much of the book reading about the world itself, it's good to continue to find where that goes. But I wish this book stood more on it's own.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Performance good, story patronizing
Revisado: 06-12-21
I really liked the book (except for starting it right after my dog died), however, the ending says everything is possible - the question of nature vs nurture is not the real question - it's that of choices. And while choosing to move forward with the decisions you've made to date is important. Everything is not possible where Nature and nurture say they are not and the decisions you make must have a starting point, and that point is in nature and nurture and that can very much limit where you go from there. I felt most of her lives would never have happened with how she was raised and her basic self, so she was stepping into other people's lives, but they would never have been her lives.

Wow, that was terrible
Revisado: 09-19-20
I don't remember Goodnight Moon. But I'm certain it didn't mention blackout curtains, drugged porridge, white noise machines, lavender tea, or sleep masks. I might be awake so late it's morning, but still. Going to sleep is a time to be with what's there in that moment. Not about what will be there in the morning or what you put away for the day, which is all this seems to be.

as good as it could be
Revisado: 08-09-20
What do you do when you write a Sherlock Holmes fanfic starring a young Mycroft Holmes whose best friend is an older wealthy Londoner of african\amerindian descent from Trinidad. You ignore a smidge of race relations. Invite a bit of it back and sit unhappily in the knowledge that it's just all so incredibly forced. it's not as anachronistic in relations as I've seen in some books for which I'm glad. it was relatively well researched for which I'm also glad. I finished it and liked it well enough.

I enjoyed. Gretch was limited, she had a bit of a secret power, but while it was helpful, she didn't end up seeming Mary Sue. Had a bit of plot armor, but I didn't find it terrible.

Simply Terrible
Revisado: 04-26-20
Did not finish. I have no desire to be lectured severely on communication and told to read Shakespeare and Covey by what is supposedly a communications expert. If I wanted to read 7 habits of highly effective people, I would've bought that book. If I wanted to read Shakespeare, I'd buy another copy of his plays.
But on top of that to have someone insist they are a communications expert while having Absolutely No Idea on how to convey tone? Should've hired someone else to read the lectures. Someone who knows how convey warmth and encouragement in their voice. I don't care if you know the right words or not if you sound like you don't understand kindness.
