Facts matter
Revisado: 12-08-24
I appreciate Jim insisting that facts matter.
Unfortunately I know too many like this guest that are determined to create their own reality.
I like to think that if I were involved in the conversation I would establish what I believe based on data and a la Dan McClellan. Anything else is just nonsense and many prefer to live in that space.

Thinking differently
Revisado: 11-16-24
I'll confess to approaching this episode a little suspicious of Ms. Stone and her position but this discussion has helped me see her in a new way.
While I'm still convinced that Joseph Smith is\was a polygamist, her passion for calling out the harm this doctrine of the church does to my wife and daughters is appreciated.
The patriarchy is this problem.
Thank you Ms. Stone for sharing your message that polygamy is wrong and hurtful to all members of the church, especially our sisters.

Historia
Ezra Taft Benson is perhaps the most controversial apostle-president in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For nearly 50 years, he delivered impassioned sermons in Utah and elsewhere, mixing religion with ultraconservative right-wing political views and conspiracy theories. His teachings inspired Mormon extremists to stockpile weapons, predict the end of the world, and commit acts of violence against their government.

ETB is still a hero to the ultra right conspiracy theorists.
Revisado: 02-17-24
I enjoyed this book as a very informative presentation of ETB and modern Mormon conservatism and love for unfounded conspiracies.

Inside Out with Jim Bennett and Ian Wilks

Historia
The format of Inside Out is simple - Jim Bennett is still on the inside of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Ian Wilks is on the outside of the Church. Yet both care about the Church and its future, and both want to see constructive dialogue between those who stay and those who leave. Hopefully, all of us can come to a better understanding of the Church and of each other.

I loved serving with you both in the SEM (Inverness Zone) and I'm so happy to listen to your thoughts and ideas in this podcast.
While I find myself sharing Ian's experience in terms of church membership and participation, I'll confess I search for Jim's public comments online.
Thank you both so much for making this effort. You have made a connection with one of the lost sheep.

Historia
This ain't your pastor's Bible podcast. This is a deep interrogation of the book, and we're bringing receipts. Bible scholar Dr. Dan McClellan and atheist podcaster Dan Beecher team up to discover what the Bible actually says, what it decidedly doesn't say (even if everyone thinks it does), and explore the history of the most popular book of all time.
