This is not a happy story

I loved the narrators in this one, the story was dark and twisted but there were so many happy moments I really thought it was going to end ok, at least for some of the characters. Read with caution and take time to check in with yourself.

Hours upon hours of world building. Action starts getting good around chapter 40! Honestly hate the way we get all violet and then the last few chapters we hear from others. I want more from the POV of Ridoc and everyone else. The ending of this was awesome but it was a struggle to get through for a vast majority of this book.

Great VA's but they needed some guidance.

I loved this book but the narrators really needed som notes so they could both decide when a character has an accent or not. Teddy Hamilton is a wonderful VA but if he's gonna pronounce some words in the Japanese correctly then why not read for the Japanese characters correctly. when the POV switched between the 2 of them she read for the "bad guy" with an accent and teddy read for him in a totally different manner and tone. If I wasn't paying attention I would have thought there were more people in the scene. This bothered me enough to leave a review.

I would recommend the losers again and again. the book felt well researched. It touched on topics of therapy and trauma. which was a nice touch to see the "bad" guys work on themselves. very spicy excellent scenes. My only real gripe is with the male narration.... while he is able to give each guy their own voice and show the difference... overall I felt he sounded to old for a early 20's character. it didn't stop me from listening all the way through though.

But when I free a bunch of particularly powerful monsters from their cages, I'm not counting on them following me home like lost puppies - stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. These manly monsters are determined to repay me for my help, and they won't get out of my apartment, until they're satisfied we're even. There's something to be said for allies so devoted they'll tear off heads and shred souls on your behalf. I'm all for joining forces.

Would not recommend, this was a let down

I have been struggling though this book since I started it. The spice is good and the action isn't bad but the slow parts are honestly extremely boring. Pair that with the narration styles of Vanessa Moyen and this listen was an absolute chore. I did not fell into this book and she read this like she didn't either.

Similar story but worth the listen

I really like this one and will definitely be waiting for the next. yes it's a similar story to Cas and poppy but it is not a copy paste as some would have you believe. Sara is more free and does as she pleases and ash reminds me more of poppy then of Cas. This book fills in a lot of blanks for the war of two queens. A lot of questions answered. I would listen again.
