Historia
From 1783, when German immigrant John Jacob Astor first arrived in the United States, until 2009, when Brooke Astor’s son, Anthony Marshall, was convicted of defrauding his elderly mother, the Astor name occupied a unique place in American society. The family fortune, first made by a beaver trapping business that grew into an empire, was then amplified by holdings in Manhattan real estate. Over the ensuing generations, Astors ruled Gilded Age New York society and inserted themselves into political and cultural life, but also suffered the most famous loss on the Titanic.

Just had to interject politics
Revisado: 06-02-24
I would have given this a higher review except that the author/narrator just couldn't help himself but to inject his political ideology into the story.

The role of the #newCEO is less about being an executive and more about being the organization's Chief Energy Officer. This book explains why energy is the secret sauce for leaders, and how the right type of energy elevates culture, communication and organizational success.

A very thoughtful, original insightful must read!
Revisado: 09-05-23
I found the book, Chief Energy Officer to be original, extremely thoughtful and very well delivered. I've read a lot of business books. Most of them are rehashed older concepts and ideas. Over the years I have found very little original thinking in the way of business reading.
Chief Energy Officer is required reading for a CEO, C suite executive or anyone aspiring to be one. Every organization has a culture. Some cultures are good. Some cultures are bad. Some cultures are deliberately cultivated and some are by happenstance.
The human body needs energy to survive. Likewise, an organization needs energy to survive. Using the appropriate amount of energy at the appropriate time is critical. This book will help you to understand the fundamental nature of leadership energy, how to harness it and how to affect it within yourself.
Suzy Siegle's book, Chief Energy Officer, Is one of the best and most unique approaches I've ever read to understanding this new and exciting area of study. She is at the forefront of a relatively new frontier in leadership style and understanding centered around personal energy and the effect that has on an organization.

Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

A very well written and thought-provoking book.
Revisado: 01-17-18
This book was far more enjoyable than what I had anticipated. I found it to both the educational and thought-provoking. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys culture, societal evolution, and history.

Historia
A major new biography of the Civil War general and American president, by the author of the New York Times bestseller A. Lincoln. The dramatic story of one of America's greatest and most misunderstood military leaders and presidents, this is a major new interpretation of Ulysses S. Grant. Based on seven years of research with primary documents, some of them never tapped before, this is destined to become the Grant biography of our times.
