Historia
In early 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted and sentenced to life plus thirty years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, a high school senior in Baltimore, Maryland. Syed has maintained his innocence, and Rabia Chaudry, a family friend, has always believed him. By 2013, after almost all appeals had been exhausted, Rabia contacted Sarah Koenig, a producer at This American Life, in hopes of finding a journalist who could shed light on Adnan’s story. In 2014, Koenig's investigation turned into Serial, a Peabody Award-winning podcast with more than 500 million international listeners.

RABIA'S STORY: THE SEARCH FOR FAME AND VALIDATION
Revisado: 01-09-20
Rabia presents readers with all the same information that anyone with a minor interest in the story has consumed in the past. This 14 1/2 hour book presents about 2 1/2 hours of information on the facts and trial, and then another hour or so of interesting backstory. The rest is filled with Rabia's personal exploits, life experiences, opinions on American sentiment towards Islam, promoting her social justice resume and agenda. At one point I rewound and checked the timer to realize the last hour had not even mentioned Adnan's case or had any relevance to the genre of the book aside from advancing Rabia's rebuke of American/Islamic relations.
Rabia's world view and opinions about Islam in America and their influences on this case are so full of contradictions and duality that it is hard to put together a cohesive rebuttal. She attacks the "bigotry" of attaching Adnan's faith to any potential motive or influence on decisions. She consistently chides those involved and America as a whole for its incorrect and bigoted view of Pakastani Muslim culture, mostly to advance her agenda about the idea of a racist and islamaphobic justice system. Not once taking a step back to recognize the validity of the prosecution's endeavor for a potential motive or amplification factor for an existing motive. My advice? Listen to serial, watch the HBO documentary, and read case files and court transcripts. Unless, that is, you are interest in Rabia Chaudry's life story and her social and political aspirations.

In 2009, Tiger Woods was the most famous athlete on the planet, a transcendent star of almost unfathomable fame and fortune living what appeared to be the perfect life - married to a Swedish beauty and the father of two young children. Winner of 14 major golf championships and 79 PGA Tour events, Woods was the first billion-dollar athlete, earning more than $100 million a year in endorsements from the likes of Nike, Gillette, AT&T, and Gatorade. But it was all a carefully crafted illusion. As it turned out, Woods had been living a double life for years.

Great book, terrible narration
Revisado: 09-25-18
The book is great, lots of interesting stories and information.
The narrator was awful. The worst cadence and odd pronunciations. Additionally, the narrator would often change his voice to tones that did not fit the story. Multiple blatant incorrect pronunciations of words. Made the book almost unpalatable.
