Tedious

I found this book to not hold my interest and I could not finish it. I thought it was tedious, trivial, and boring. If you find psychics to be interesting, you might enjoy it. For me it helped very little interest.

For me, this book was real with a real life ending and a God centered storyline while not being sappy and unrealistic. Having dealt with addicted family members it blessed me to see ‘things work out’ in ways humans couldn’t have planned.

Historia
Did you know that there are more penises than women in the Bayeux Tapestry? That the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 was started and propelled by women who were protesting a tax on women? Or that Charles Darwin believed not just that women were naturally inferior to men, but that they’d evolve to become ever more inferior? These are just a few of the startling findings you will learn from listening to Philippa Gregory’s Normal Women. In this ambitious book, she tells the story of England over 900 years, for the very first time placing women—some fifty per cent of the population—center stage.

Not at all like her other books
Revisado: 03-23-24
I have read almost all of Philippa Gregory’s books and have loved them all, but this one was a bust for me. It didn’t grab my interest. There was too much jumping around from situation to situation or woman to woman. I was anticipating a story line and instead, in my opinion, the book read as a jumble of situations. I lost interest and decided not to waste my time on this book. I read about 1/3 of it at most. I still am a Philippa Gregory fan, however, I think it was just this particular style of book that didn’t capture my attention.

Historia
It was easy for Elizabeth. She married the man she loved, bore him two children and made a home for him which was the envy of their friends. It was harder for Ruth. She married Elizabeth’s son and then found that, somehow, she could never quite measure up. Isolation, deceit and betrayal fill the gaps between the two individual women and between their different worlds. In this complex thriller, Philippa Gregory deploys all her insight into what women want and what women fear, as Ruth confronts the shifting borders of her own sanity.

Not for me
Revisado: 07-01-23
Having a Christian faith, I did not feel that this book reflected what I know to be true. His interpretation of events was not how I view end of life visions or feelings. I am sure for some this would be a very interesting book, but it was not for me.
