This book is a walk through a period of life when a combat veteran leaves the military and deals with the challenges of not only civilian life but learning he has PTSD. There are many transitions that the character goes through: getting out of the military, dealing with the world he lives in, discovering PTSD, learning what works and doesn't work, the challenges of suicide thoughts, discovering his true purpose in life and moving forward.

Excellent autobiography about the extreme effects of PTSD on veterans

This book depicts many true stories of what combat veterans experience while in the service. After doing exactly what they were trained to do, they are left with a wide range of hardships from PTSD and they suffer from it the rest of their lives. It was sobering to hear how debilitating PTSD can be and how it often leads to suicide if untreated. It’s an overlooked sacrifice and Next Mission calls us to find our way to help and serve those who have already served us. They continue to pay a high price in the present for what they experienced in the past. Some of them lose their lives.
