Historia
Reeling from the news dropped on his desk days earlier, Sheriff Elven Hallie is left questioning everyone and everything in his life. But when a former deputy is burned to death, Elven must push aside the turmoil in his personal life to catch the killer. As if that wasn’t enough, new faces from the Starcher clan enter his county with vengeance in their eyes for Corbin’s death. Paranoid, angry, and directionless, Elven must lean on those closest to him to bring a ruthless murderer to justice. But that’s easier said than done when it’s those closest to him who he trusts the least.

Just when I think she can’t do any better, she proves me wrong! This one kept a very creepy, suspenseful atmosphere throughout the entire book. I primarily listen during the day while I clean, and found myself jumping when my kids would tap my shoulder to get my attention!

A Decent Listen
Revisado: 10-19-22
This would definitely be a good story for a younger listener. My biggest problem with the story was the main character. It felt as though his personality wasn’t really consistent. I feel like more time could have been given to character development. Parts of the story were also confusing. I will admit that I do not normally listen to YA books, and had to keep reminding myself that this was one.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 09-24-22
This was a good book. I am a fan of the narrator and think he does a really good job. The book written as though it is a collaborative of individual interviews with survivors. There were certain parts that I really struggled to stay interested in, but overall I enjoyed it.

I wish I could start it over for the first time!
Revisado: 09-12-22
This was seriously one of those series that made me feel sad when it ended. The overall story was very well written and contained both relatable characters that you could love and horrible terrible characters that you could hate. The story wasn’t super predictable. As soon as you thought you knew where it was going, it would throw in a twist. The narration was also well done. If I haven’t already mentioned it, I wish I could start it over again for the first time!
*I received a copy of this series in return for my honest review, and this did not affect my opinion of it.

Historia
Years ago, the SS Arcadia vanished without a trace during a routine voyage. Though a garbled emergency message was broadcast, neither the ship nor any of its crew could be found. Sixty years later, its wreck has finally been discovered more than 300 miles from its intended course...a silent graveyard deep beneath the ocean's surface. Cove and her dive team have been granted permission to explore the Arcadia's rusting hull. Their purpose is straightforward: examine the wreck, film everything, and, if possible, uncover how and why the supposedly unsinkable ship vanished.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 08-07-22
This was definitely not my favorite work by Darcy Coates. I’m not sure why, but I kept feeling bored and didn’t feel like there was enough suspense.
It also sounded to me like the narrator was pronouncing some words that end with an “s” sound as a “th.” I found it to be very distracting.

It seems like the perfect job. Great wages, accommodation provided and all located within the walls of Highwood Hall, a stunning stately home owned by the Howard family. Not many little girls dream of becoming a maid, but this is an opportunity for me to get back on my feet. And for me to revisit my past....

It wouldn’t end
Revisado: 07-14-22
This definitely was not my taste. I found myself really irritated by the main character. Possible spoiler alert here, but she goes there in the first place because her mom abandoned her after working there, then the creepy boss’s son locks her in a closet and keeps physically hurting her (among other things) and she’s excited by this?! It got to the point I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes.
The other thing was that it took too long after the climax to get to the ending. It kept babbling on and on with what filler instead of any substantial information. I hardly ever stop listening, but I was really hard to keep going with this one.

Hard to get through
Revisado: 06-27-22
The ONLY reason I even finished this one was because I spent a credit on it. I’ve enjoyed the series so far, so of course when I finished the last one, I purchased this one. The narrator’s voice made it very difficult to keep listening. It’s a very deep sultry voice, which may be great for other books, but I found it hard to distinguish which character was even speaking at times. I also found the voices didn’t match the characters very well. It’s a good story, with a good plot, and likable characters, but it all was lost for me on the narrator’s voice.

From the mind of the man Stephen King calls "a master of the macabre", comes a brilliant new collection of no-punches-pulled horror stories, some never-before-collected and many originals that have never been published anywhere before. Bentley Little can take the innocuous, twist it around, and write a story that will change your way of thinking. Walking Alone: Short Stories is a shining example of his talent to scare you, creep you out, and make you shudder.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-08-21
I read the reviews before I started this, but sometimes a book has awful reviews and I like it, so I went for it. I had to force myself to keep listening. I wasn’t sure if Little was trying his hand at comedy or if this specific title was aimed at young readers. A FEW of the stories had very intriguing storylines but then left me with a cliffhanger ending, which was annoying as well. The rest were more funny than they were creepy or scary. It felt more like I was listening to a cheesy Goosebumps story than something for adults. I’m only giving it as many stars as I have because of the couple of good stories that were mixed in.

The Perry family's new house is perfect - except for the weird behavior of the neighbors, and that odd smell coming from a dark corner in the basement. Pity no one warned the family about the house. Now it's too late. Because the darkness at the bottom of the basement stairs is rising.

The overall story line was good enough. It pulls you in and is interesting. I felt the narrator could have given more life to each individual character. I absolutely hated the ending of it.
