Historia
Linc Kingston doesn’t accept anything less than perfection. Not in his billion-dollar business or in his personal life. He has it all, except one thing: his personal assistant and best friend in his bed, moaning his name. No matter how much Linc wants her, she’s completely off-limits. Jordan Greene grew up the daughter of the housekeeper at the Kingston estate, where she met and bonded with Linc at a young age, despite their economic differences.

Predictable and Poorly Written.
Revisado: 02-22-24
This story was so poorly written and FULL of cliches. I understand it’s a YA novel, but it should have some depth. Every problem that came up was resolved quickly with little resistance. I felt like there were many better storylines to focus on or include. For example: his father’s dementia ruining parts of the company, his brother’s time overseas, Aurora’s boss’s weirdly overprotective nature (I thought he would be the father of her child), or even if literally any of the problems lasted more than a chapter or two. Jordan’s character could have had so much more emotion and depth written into her, but it felt like the author didn’t want to weigh down her book with descriptions of actual trauma. She has barely any reaction to helping Aurora birth to her child or even to becoming pregnant herself. No one that traumatized is just gonna go have sex again and again and then be okay in a day. It was too rushed. I wish the author would have slowed the pace and focused on the character’s emotions and maybe the story would have actually been interesting.

Historia
A stunning debut novel from Jesmyn Ward, Where the Line Bleeds is a rich tale of twins raised by their grandmother in a stiflingly poor rural community on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Upon graduating from high school, growing tensions between brothers Joshua and Christophe test their loyalties—and a violent altercation forever changes their lives.

Very Moving

The narrator did a great job showing the raw emotion Jesmyn always portrays in her novels. Another great listen.
