Great Book- A Solid Choice
Revisado: 05-05-25
Michael Connelly has written another solid Lincoln Lawyer book in The Reversal. It held my attention from start to finish. The story is rich with content and detail without any added fluff or dull moments.
Mickey in the prosecutor’s shoes for once was an intriguing juxtaposition to his usual role as defense counsel.
I highly recommend this book. I had listened after watching the series on Netflix and I really appreciated the depth in this book that wasn’t fully covered on the screen.
Enjoy your listen!

Captivated My Attention
Revisado: 11-26-24
I was sad when it ended. It is a beautiful story of self-acceptance and love. It’s a resonating tale of redemption despite missteps in life and the feeling of being broken.
This book also illuminates the divide between social classes and the constraints women faced, no matter what side one is on- the privileged or poor.
We see a glimpse into American immigrants and the challenges faced.
I enjoyed every minute of this book and the lessons I gained from its story.

Sorting through Miriam's possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he's never seen before.

Reminder About Living a Meaningful Life
Revisado: 11-15-24
I enjoyed this sweet fiction that explored a range of emotions from pure joy and love to bereavement and loss.
This love story was definitely sad at times, but had a general uplifting theme that as I read allowed me to embrace each cherished moment of my own life and my friends and family.

Another Great Follett Story!
Revisado: 08-26-24
The beginning was confusing to me as so many characters were introduced so quickly. The beginning is important to understand as pivotal events happen immediately.
I’m really glad I stuck with it and kept reading because the story was captivating. Ken Follett is an incredible novelist and I read on knowing that all will be wrapped up beautifully by the end.

Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face to face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame.

I had watched the Lincoln Lawyer series first and the book as in many cases did not disappoint, even though I was familiar with the whole story. The story line is so good that it keeps you guessing, hoping, and intrigued until the very end!

This story was frustrating and not very believable
Revisado: 07-31-24
I could have happily passed on this book, and in hindsight I wish I had. The story line started out slow and picked up a little bit only to drag on from the midpoint to the end. I found myself not really buying into any of the main characters. Eve initially drew me in, but then her story arc was so completely frustrating and I found myself just wanting the story to end.
There are so many inspiring WWI and WWII stories, this was not one.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. I was hooked from beginning to end. Listening to this book in a single day because I couldn’t wait to hear how it progressed.

Jill and Derick knew a normal life wasn’t possible for them. As a star on the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, Jill grew up in front of viewers who were fascinated by her family’s way of life. She was the responsible, second daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle’s nineteen kids; always with a baby on her hip and happy to wear the modest ankle-length dresses with throat-high necklines.

Honest & Vulnerable
Revisado: 07-08-24
Jill told her story in such a respectful manner. She shares without putting down her parents while simultaneously sharing how being raised in a suppressive manner has impacted her life.
It interested me to view inside the Duggar household from the eyes of Jill. I found Jill’s perspective honest and insightful. I’m grateful I got to hear Jill’s story and that this story gave her a voice and freedom.

Just another mean girl…
Revisado: 07-08-24
This book was pretty hard to get through. Holly victimizes herself by complaining about ‘mean girls’ she encounters. Yet throughout the book, she belittles other women constantly.
I really wanted to root for Holly. This book was disappointing. I hoped that Holly would rise above the ‘mean girls,’ but to the very end she never missed an opportunity to pull woman after woman down.
The immaturity with which this book was written makes it the worst book I’ve read in a few years. There are so many autobiographical books that are inspiring and enjoyable to read. I recommend choosing a different autobiography to read.

This “beautiful, brave book,” (Jenna Bush Hager, the Today show) is the story of Rebel Wilson’s remarkable personal transformation, from a painfully shy child in Australia who literally had to be dragged to drama classes and achieved break-out success in the US through iconic roles in Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids, and Isn’t It Romantic.

All The Feels!
Revisado: 06-30-24
There is such vulnerability in this book that I could so relate too and I suspect most women can relate to.
Feeling unworthy and struggling with body image perpetuates the cycle that Rebel was trying to break.
This book had it all. Laughter, tears, and everything in between. I highly recommend reading this book. It is by far my favorite autobiography by an actor/actress and there are so many great ones.
