Only wish it was longer - ON TO BOOK TWO!

(So keep in mind this is a review by someone in their mid-twenties, for a book that was more geared towards slightly younger adults and teenagers)
Overall, I came in knowing I wasn’t necessarily the target demographic and listened accordingly. I think that it read well and wasn’t at all hard to get through like some other YA romance novels. It was was short and sweet and to the point, but managed to paint a pretty decent picture of this dystopian world it is set in.

I was a little disappointed that the selection process was cut so short, and personally felt that while it was an OK decision by the author, it still would’ve been nice to have some more details and plot for the side characters. I mean, going from 40 to 20 to 6 in just a few chapters was DRASTIC, hence why I gave the story 4/5 stars instead of the full 5. It just could’ve been drawn out A BIT longer, but hey that’s just my opinion. Still a great book, AND hopefully a great series! Off to listen to #2 ...

A bit on the short side

Just after finishing the first book of this series I was certainly ready to get to the next one. Like usual the movies are never exactly like the books, but these have the same appeal. I love Anne Hathaway as the narrator, mostly because I love her, but also because she quite literally was Mia Thermopolis. It's like you get to here her tell you all the juicy details in her diary, and that's great while driving alone. It has really kept me alert, almost like someone is taking to me the entire time.
The only downside is I thought this book was a little on the short side. However, this will not be stoping me from continuing the series. I get a wonderful sense of nostalgia every time I get to read a bit of these books (I recall in my preteens picking these up at book fairs but never really retained any of the information).
Still a good read if this style of book is your thing.

Anne Hathaway: The best choice for a reader

If you've ever watched the movies before, I'll let you know now it's not exactly the same. BUT, it does have the same appeal. I love the feel of it seeming like you're reading someone's diary, or rather they are reading it you.
Would recommend for an easy, entertaining read.
