Too Much

Just too cheesy for me and too unbelievable to accept, even in regards to historical romance. Too wordy (repetitive wordiness) and too much restating the same thing over and over. I don’t need to be reminded why a character feels a certain way every chapter; I’m capable of drawing my own conclusions.

Smith is not a bad author at all, this is just not my cup of tea. I love historical romance novels and when reading one, you expect them to be a little cheesy, but wow! This was beyond the normal serving. Much too gooey for me.

Good, Not Great

Overall, this was very average. Not much happens and as far as the mystery goes, it was very easy to guess. The love story is sweet, not passionate. It’s a little on the cheesy side. The narrator wasn’t bad. Definitely not the worst I’ve listened to.

So Wonderful!

So good! It just love how favorite characters from other books were back and we got to see how they turned out! The main characters were adorable together! I love Lisa Kleypas, but this was so much more than I was expecting. Of course, Mary Jane Wells is an amazing narrator and should narrate everything.

So Frustrated

I could sum up this entire story in a few sentences. Seriously, nothing happened! There was WAY TOO MUCH inner monologue and pointless dialogue! I hate to say it, but it was horrible. If you have to drag every single thought out, you need more plot.

Absolutely Wonderful

This is the first time I’ve listened to anything by this author, but it was so good that I’ve already listened to it twice.
It has a good amount of sexual content, so if you need a clean romance, this isn’t it.
I love both main characters! I really love the brother’s character too, as people are never all bad or all good. I cannot wait for this author to release more on Audible! Hopefully she will continue to use Carmen Rose as she is one of my favorite narrators!

Mary Jane Wells + Lisa Kleypas = Perfection

I adore this book, as well as almost anything by Lisa Kleypas. Mary Jane Wells is so talented and brings everything she narrates to life!

What I didn’t love… First, the story itself is a bit slow in parts. Second, there are times when you just want to smack the crap out of the older sister and tell her to mind her own. I know she’s supposed to be overbearing, but the icing is a wee bit thick.

What I loved… First, Matthew. I love Matthew and he is perfect for Daisy. I really like their story! Second, EVERYTHING ELSE! I truly enjoyed this book! It’s romantic, but not cheesy. (I cannot stand the romance books where the H/h are sobbing as they say I love you.) It’s funny. There are parts where I laughed out loud.

There are 3 or 4 sort of graphic intimate scenes, which is not a criticism. More of a heads up. Personally, I think Lisa Kleypas is wonderful at writing sexual scenes that feel intimate and passionate. They’re descriptive enough to heat up the oven but not so descriptive that they cross over into adult toy land/erotica.
Overall, very nicely done Ms. Kleypas and Ms. Wells!

Best Romance Novel Ever

This novel doesn’t even need my review. Everyone knows it’s the best romance novel in its genre. Sebastian is my favorite hero of all the romance novels I’ve read. Super sexy! I love the heroine as well. Very passionate and sexy and best of all, not cheesy. Probably the best book by Lisa Kleypas.
