Another good one
Revisado: 05-02-23
Overall, I enjoyed it. Just started to feel so frustrated for Isabel with how distrustful Vane was but thankfully once they got past that, the story really heated up and got good. I just really wanted to know if they ever had any kids together, the ending really didn't fully answer the question for me but I also like how these books touch on real issues and insecurities that happen with real life couples. Narration sounds good as usual and there were even the pleasantly surprising scenes that made me laugh out loud. Also, the voice for Stanhope is both hideous and funny but perhaps fitting for his character lol.

Not my favorite of the series but still good
Revisado: 05-02-23
Even this not so great story is still miles ahead of other similar stories with the same tropes. I just felt somethings explained about the main characters' personalities were a little contradictory. I also felt the hero was just too miserable and down on himself for my taste and he didn't even resemble the man Julie loved in the first book. He was just mean and aggressive and didn't seem like anything triggered him to be that way in the moment. Also, the ending was kind of abrupt and didn't feel satisfactorily resolved. I was halfway thinking Samantha should have just stayed back with her family cause John was too unstable.

Loved everything about this book. I loved Gabriel's character and just the overall playfulness, banter and chemistry between the hero/heroine. This is so far my favorite of the series and the two narrators are superb.

Historia
Love begets madness. Viscount Locksley watched it happen to his father after his cherished wife's death. But when his sire arranges to marry flame-haired fortune hunter Portia Gadstone, Locke is compelled to take drastic measures to stop the stunning beauty from taking advantage of the marquess. A marriage of mutual pleasure could be convenient, indeed, as long as inconvenient feelings don't interfere.

OK
Revisado: 04-22-23
The reviews had me thinking it was really good but it was kind of let down. I loved the father and hearing about his love story with his wife who had passed. The story started off good but at times the Viscount was just too mean and cold for my taste and I felt like the only thing they had going was sex and then Portia was withholding so much. The middle kind of dragged and I lost interest and started to jump ahead so maybe they fell in love during that part but it got good again about 5-6 chapters at the end but by that point the Viscount did a 360 and was now falling over himself so in love and it felt unbelievable like he was a different person. It just felt like all the revelations from Portia were also wrapped up too neatly in a bow that Locke was just that forgiving and accepting that quickly. The narrator is once again not good except for doing the father's voice, every other voice just sounds harsh and the female sounds manly.

Better Than Expected
Revisado: 04-21-23
This kind of a storyline is one I usually avoid but the reviews made me give it a try and I did enjoy it overall and it had a satisfying conclusion to give it a HEA. I just did not like the narrator, she is both monotone but kind of grating on your ears. Some of the dialogue was a little corny or didn't sound authentic to the characters. Overall, I did enjoy it better than the first and I am enjoying the series, will be listening to the next.

Good but drawn out and heroine annoying at times
Revisado: 04-18-23
This review kind of covers the first book as well as this one. For both stories, the heroines are not as likable for different reasons. Claire was too arrogant/stuck up and although I enjoyed Lucy in the first book (maybe because she was still a teenager in the first book), she was just annoying in this book just for being argumentative about everything just because she "didn't trust men" and wanted to be "independent". The thing is I still don't know where her distrust stemmed from as she lived a mostly sheltered life and she was not independent and could barely do anything for herself due to her privileged status which she only realized toward the end of the book. For both books, the heros were more likable and I was mostly rooting for them. Also, both books are more long-winded than necessary. The first book had the overarching plot of the parent's marriage/infidelity and I almost found that more interesting than Daniel and Claire's romance. The same was true of this book, Edith and the vicar's story was more interesting than Lucy and Thomas for me. Almost wish there were separate books for their parents and Ms. E .

Narrator really brings Lord Haven to Life
Revisado: 04-06-23
I wouldn't say this story was as good as the first two books but still worth a credit and it was lovely to see Theo learn what true love was in the arms of the sexy yet sensitive Lord Haven. I loved how the narrator performed Lord Haven, she made him extra dreamy lol. I liked Lord Haven's character as he had gone through a lot but still had an open heart and a funny/teasing personality. The only downsides were that after a while Theo's argumentativeness got annoying . She started to come off as airheaded and selfish especially when she actually had a man that truly wanted her, she didn't have to chase this one and I still don't think she told him she loved him at the end after throwing in his face time and time again how she wanted his friend. I felt that after the marriage and the move to his estate, the story kind of dragged with so much explanation of Haven's past and his father/uncle relationship. The revenge plot with Leo was made such an issue at the beginning of the story but felt like it was not revisited until the very end of the story as a last minute tie up of loose ends but was anticlimactic. Also, the epilogue brought about an abrupt ending.

Historia
Lady Andromeda Barrington is the most unsuitable young lady in London. At least in the Duke of Granby’s opinion. Granby doesn’t care for bastard relatives or tainted pedigrees and Andromeda possesses both. Nor does he like opinionated young ladies who enjoy hurling insults in his direction. Andromeda is, in short, the most annoying creature he’s ever met. When she arrives, uninvited, to a house party given at his estate, Granby can’t decide whether to kiss Andromeda senseless or send her packing. Andromeda is the victim of infatuation and bad luck.

Just the Right Amount of Everything
Revisado: 04-05-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. I normally don't like an enemies to lovers trope but this struck a good balance with just the right amount of banter, steamy scenes, angst, and the couple had to work through real issues and their past to come together. Despite the angst, what I liked was that it did not take too long for either to recognize they liked/loved each other, just moreso reconciling that with other's expectations. The performance was good as it was for the first book. I look forward to the next in the series.

Good story but drawn out/unnecessary details
Revisado: 04-02-23
I loved the characters and the overall story but I felt the writer relied too heavily on descriptions of the environment/setting, use of french terms/phrases which I wonder did people in Regency England really use that much French in daily life? it felt odd...and just a lot of otherwise useless details rather than giving us dialogue or action that could actually move the story along. Some of the dialogue was just rehashing same conversations over and over again but it wasn't even as if those conversations brought any new revelations or conclusions, it just made some of the characters seem wishy washy and seem like the dilemmas could have easily been resolved if there was more communication with certain parties. I felt like the author got so into the weeds about historical details like the war and Byron, that after a while I was feeling like is this a romance or just a historical fiction because the romance started to take a back seat until the very end of the book. It was also a little too angsty for my taste with the main couples.

At 30 years of age, Susan Jennings has long been considered a spinster. Exceptionally intelligent, she has little tolerance for London and the dreaded Season - if that’s how one is expected to find love, it’s not for her. But when an invitation arrives that cannot be ignored, Susan leaves her comfortable life in the country and enters the fashion and frivolity she most despises. She quickly discovers, however, that there is more to loathe in London - and his name is George Kendall.

Could have been longer
Revisado: 03-31-23
Interesting plot, liked the premise and the characters were fairly fleshed out. I just wished it was longer. I think this is one story that could be fleshed out further. The good parts just came too quickly then the story was over and I still don't know exactly when they fell in love with each other because there was not enough internal dialogue or feedback on what they were feeling/experiencing. The performance was good except how the narrator said "Susan" was annoying.
