Historia
When Katy’s mother dies, she is left reeling. Carol wasn’t just Katy’s mom, but her best friend and first phone call. She had all the answers and now, when Katy needs her the most, she is gone. To make matters worse, their planned mother-daughter trip of a lifetime looms: to Positano, the magical town where Carol spent the summer right before she met Katy’s father. Katy has been waiting years for Carol to take her, and now she is faced with embarking on the adventure alone.

Surprise ending
Revisado: 04-10-24
The story line was interesting. I definitely want to go to Italy now! However, the little bit of foul language and a couple of scenes of somewhat graphic sex bring it down a notch for my liking.

You've heard it all before. The promises for a better life get tiresome after awhile, because you know they don't deliver. However, they do touch on a profound and inescapable truth. You were created to live your life out of a rewarding, richly textured relationship with God and others - and deep down, you long to experience that kind of life. But how? Are you willing to devote 60 days to finding out? John Burke guides you on a journey of experiential discovery that has already made a profound impact on thousands who have discovered what it means to actually "do life" with God.

Motivating to Change
Revisado: 01-24-23
The ideas presented by the author came to me at a time I was joining a few friends for prayer to find a closer walk with God. Not only did the author give me ways to do that, but he also gave me exciting examples of how it has worked in numerous peoples’ lives.
The narrator was clear and had excitement in his voice. I’m turning around and reading this again, following each chapter week by week. (A discipline hard for me to follow when I get a new book!). I consider this an answer to prayer.

At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade’s worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, and the next he was a patient struggling to live. And just like that, the future he and his wife had imagined evaporated.

Doctor and patient are one
Revisado: 12-27-22
The author has the perspective of seeing death from both doctor and patient, sometimes supporting and other times clashing with one another. Facing our own mortality sharply brings our attention to matters of true value in our lives. This is an excellent read that offers the reader an opportunity to stop and consider one’s own mortality.

Historia
In 1962, Don and Carol Richardson risked their lives to share the gospel with the Sawi people of New Guinea. Peace Child tells their unforgettable story of living among these headhunters and cannibals who valued treachery through fattening victims with friendship before the slaughter. God gave Don and Carol the key to the Sawi hearts via a redemptive analogy from their own mythology.

No Queasy Stomachs Allowed
Revisado: 02-07-19
Other than the graphic descriptions of the truth of the life of the headhunting, cannibalistic tribes in this story, this was a remarkable witness to the faith, determination, and love the author and his wife had for the people they moved to the jungle to serve and with whom to share the Gospel. The most impressive out take I received from listening to this book was that of the power and love and commitment our Heavenly Father has in his Covenant with us. This is well worth the difficulty in reading the details.

Oh, what a relief it is!
Revisado: 04-30-15
Within a few paragraphs I felt a sense of relief. Many times in the past I had been envious of how someone else related to God. Why couldn't I be more like her? Now I knew; that was not my temperament. My way of worship was just as valid as hers.
This book, which I will read again, is a great tool for learning how to grow and stretch your faith. Thank you, Gary Thomas, for helping me to love God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength!

"Sometimes I want to spend hours talking with my best friends about boys and fashion and school and life. I want to go to the gym; I want my hair to look nice; I want to be allowed to wear jeans. I want to be a normal young woman living in America, sometimes. But I want other things more. All the time. I want to be spiritually and emotionally filled every day. I want to be loved and cuddled by a hundred children and never go a day without laughing.

Too Good to be True?
Revisado: 02-04-14
What did you love best about Kisses from Katie?
It's very hard to choose what I loved best about this book; the narration was delightful, the characters lovable, and the story was inspirational. Finding a young adult called by God and responding at such a young age was soothing to my aching soul.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Kisses from Katie?
One of the most memorable moments was when Katie returned to the United States to attend college as she had promised her father. Even though she had adopted children whom would have to be left behind, as well as a ministry that cared for many more, her commitment to honoring her promise to her Dad was one with which she dealt with integrity.
Which character – as performed by Jaimee Draper – was your favorite?
Without a doubt, our heroine, Katie Davis, is my favorite. She's truly a natural mother, compassionate, passionate about the issues presented by poverty, wise beyond her years, and has faith that leads her through every imaginable obstacle.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It's hard to explain the most moving part of the book without giving away an extremely touching part of Katie's story. Suffice it to say that her most devastating moment, and all the actions that followed, affected me deeply. Not only did I cry as I read it, but it made me pause and consider how I would react in such a situation. It also showed how God prepares our path for such times and provides help before we even ask or know that we will need it.
Any additional comments?
Not only was I moved by Katie's parenting and organizational skills, her passion for the poor, and her bravery in facing scary challenges, her discernment in applying Scripture to life's challenges deemed her very wise in my opinion. The reading by Jaimee Draper was excellent quality. No, Katie Davis is real and is not too good to be true.

Practical and enlightening!
Revisado: 02-02-14
Would you listen to Organizing from the Inside Out again? Why?
I have read through this book twice and have bookmarked places I want to read again. Not only do I love how simple it is to apply the principles, but the author gives examples that help with clarification.
What about Julie Morgenstern’s performance did you like?
Julie was easy to understand and her inflections varied so I did not get sleepy listening to her.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from Organizing from the Inside Out?
Organizing from the Inside Out gave me a vision for how I want to live and steps to follow to achieve my dream!
Any additional comments?
I love, love, love the questions to ask myself to keep this vision all about what works for ME, not some magazine photo or project on TV that works for someone else!
