Historia
She's unlike any one or any thing else: a Non-Standard Leashed-Intelligence Cybernetic Enforcer aka NSLICE-00P. The first of her kind, she's let loose into a universe of superheroes on behalf of her sinister masters to destroy all who oppose them. And everything's going according to plan—until NSLICE-00P gets hacked and sent into the past to kill her own creator before he creates her. Obeying orders as always, she wastes the poor guy. Unfortunately, there are consequences to initiating a reality-breaking time paradox. The most significant: total ejection from that reality.

This is a good example of what not to do.
Revisado: 04-19-25
The premise and setup sounds great, but the actual writing is really subpar. And the translation into the audiobook was not good. I listened to just over 4 hours before i sent this to my bad collection. it's like it embraced all the mistakes of an Isekai power fantasy, then forgot it was suppose to be funny. They also do the cardinal sin of the time and narrative stat lists into audio. Don't even isolate them into skippable chapters. Maybe if the audio is redone to isolate those longstat readings it would be better. And/or if we skipped to when the MC actually started getting a personality. But over 4 hours in, and it's still like a Chatbot got into an asylum.

Lots of promise, poor start
Revisado: 04-07-25
I want to like this story, especially since it was voice by a great narrator I've heard before. But the writing is sadly very medicore. It seems to start in the middle of a story, many of the charcters are shallow and very stereotypical, and the plot is very meandering for the first third of the book despite the dramatic start. Then I got the idea that the MC is the only human in a VR world that is just starting to get sapient AI and i just couldn't get that out of my head despite being sure the author wasn't doing that plot. Then the main people grabbed the idiot ball and made massive assumptions from a bit of data, that went to 4 other assumptions in sequence for reasons.
So not really a bad story, but not really good either.

Lee had expertise in different sciences and 24th-century tech due to learning machines that could transfer an expert's knowledge. He had the latest high-tech weapons. He had acquired the latest protective equipment. He was sixteen and got his great-grandfather's A.I., Anna, to find him a planet that had magic. His A.I. hacked a portal to take him there. He might have bitten off more than he could chew.

if you want an example of a Mary Stu...
Revisado: 03-13-25
if you want an example of what a Mary Stu is, this is a perfect book. The main charcter is an icon of the trope! And sadly that and being an easy listen is all this book offers. Unrealistic charcters, everything just works for the main charcter while consistently failing for villains, very black and white morality, I think this is written for tweens and not any other group.

Revisado: 01-19-25
I love this series, and still holding out on this story until i hear more. But who thought the narrator would be good? I'm tempted to copy the text into a text to voice, Because this slow, 8 pack a day smoker voice (likely from weed), and weird accent changing just doesn't work for the entire story. It is like someone told him to record like he's revealing a conspiracy after he's been mysteriously killed. Listening to it at 115% speed isn't helping.

Historia
While on duty, Trig had received an Automated AEthereal Message from the OCSS Bone Wracker: a Call-To-Arms, an extremely rare type of message that was only issued when a ship encountered a situation that was beyond the capabilities of a single OCSS. Of course, the truly exciting news was that his superior, Thargus, was temporarily incapacitated, making Trig the acting First Shaman, giving him a front row seat to the investigation as part of the First Away Team. It appeared that, at long last, his on-duty life would get exciting enough to distract him from his off-duty life.

Revisado: 07-21-24
I've read what others said, and put off reading this for a long while because of them. This is not a direct sequal, but more like a long time skip then coming back to find a side story.
That still means this is a good heir to the series, and if that is what the author needs to do, that is what her needs to do.

I tried to like it
Revisado: 07-14-24
I tried to like this story, it has all the checks of a great story for me. But the constant self narration, mc explaining why their stupid decisions are made, repeating that this is a record that is unlikely to be read... it's just boring. Stopped and restarted multiple times, and read 70% before just giving up.

Great narration of skill, but poor audiobook.
Revisado: 04-25-24
I really like this series since my childhood. But this is not a good addition. Plot is not as well thought out, Flix is forced into a set up situation and hobbled by author fiat, and the singing is making a poor transition from the text.
I'm giving 5 stars to the narrator simply for the excellent effort, and his skill really shows as he sings excellenty or poorly as needed and according to the situation and charcter singing. THAT TAKES A MAESTRO, and he really proved it here.

New narrator is bad, and major story style shift.
Revisado: 03-25-24
I love this series, but nothing is perfect. This book is the bad apple in that basket. New narrator is near monotone and uninteresting, story reads more like a romance novel than anything else, and far too much focus on the new AI body and the transition of the AI:ICEs to it.

I love MWs work, but this isn't his best.
Revisado: 11-20-23
Matthew Peed is normally one of my most loved authors, but this one is a dud. Story is relying on isaki tropes, the characters are unlikable, the narrator is way to bland and unemotional, and the world building only really starts after 5 hours. And the world itself is a dying and hopeless dystopia that came right out of the Sin City comics and movie.
Ah well, nobody is perfect. Please read MW's other stories, they are amazing!

Historia
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Revisado: 09-25-23
I love Craig's other series... but I'm almost 9 hours into this one, and about 4 hours of it is just people being shocked and amazed, or just making circular conversations/arguments.
This... isn't as intelligent as Expendary Force or Mavericks. Very funny, but a lot of cringe as well so far.
