A book I liked, but remain confused
Revisado: 07-19-24
I don't usually write reviews, but this book left me confused and not wanting more.
The story was somewhat implausible, but it maintained my interest. There was no villain or connection to the "sins" of the past. I was confused as to what was the motive for the kidnapping. Why kidnap a women with little or no significance? Was it all a strange coincidence? Who was the mastermind? Why all the background information on Mitch and Abbie and no connection to the past? Why a ransom for $100 million? The story had a conclusion, but it left me empty. Too many loose threads to make this even close to believable.

Too easy to believe
Revisado: 10-20-23
The story is far too optimistic. It needed more of the struggle of the pioneers of the old west. People made the trek with their belongings in a small Conestoga wagon, settled and survived all throughout the prairie with the harsh winter weather. So it is possible, but not without hard work and effort. A believable novel, it is not. I did it enjoy it as a very casual but unbelievable tale.

Historia
Queen of the Underworld is sweeping and sultry literary fiction, featuring a memorable young heroine and engaging characters whose intimate dramas interconnect with hers. In the summer of 1959, as Castro clamps down on Cuba and its first wave of exiles flees to the States to wait out what they hope to be his short-lived reign, Emma Gant, fresh out of college, begins her career as a reporter.

Weird ending
Revisado: 02-01-06
I should have probably taken the unabridged version as the writing was quite good. However, the ending left me wondering as it did not come to any type of closure whatsoever. Ithought there was more to the book as it ended.
