Historia
"Mercy is radical kindness", Anne Lamott writes in her enthralling and heartening book, Hallelujah Anyway. It's the permission you give others - and yourself - to forgive a debt, to absolve the unabsolvable, to let go of the judgment and pain that make life so difficult. In Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy Lamott ventures to explore where to find meaning in life. We should begin, she suggests, by "facing a great big mess, especially the great big mess of ourselves". It's up to each of us to recognize the presence and importance of mercy everywhere.

Ann focuses on the roll of mercy and grace in the course of our lives and is able to restrain herself from including too much unwelcome political commentary.

Historia
Behind most major political stories in the modern era, there is an agenda - an effort by opposition researchers, spin doctors, and outside interests to destroy an idea or a person. The tactic they use is the Smear. Every day, Americans are influenced by the Smear without knowing it. Paid forces cleverly shape virtually every image you cross. Maybe you read that Donald Trump is a racist misogynist or saw someone on the news mocking the Bernie Sanders campaign. The trick of the Smear is that it is often based on some shred of truth.

Historia
Rupert Sheldrake and Matthew Fox will transform how you think about the most popular of all spiritual beings. Study of the Christian mystics led Fox and Sheldrake to the most startling part of their research, which was the discovery that "Aquinas' discussion on angels practically parallels today's discussion upon physics". They explore the idea that the universe is a living organism, and they raise the possibility that angels play a role in the governing of the universe itself.

In The Third Wave, Case uses his insights garnered from nearly four decades of working as an innovator, investor, and businessperson to chart a path for future visionaries.

unimpressive attempt to re-write history
Revisado: 06-24-16
I regret buying this book. I thought the focus would be more future oriented. While there was a small amount of that, most of the book was Case explaining how others disappointed him during his career and how AOL and their executives were a better outfit than Time Warner. Case supposedly always had great ideas that others wouldn't act on. Case seems to often confuse AOL with the internet itself. Obviously Case is bright but he got filthy rich by conning Time Warner to accept radically overvalued AOL shares as a legitimate currency at the height of the internet bubble. In the process of transferring Time Warner wealth to himself and others at his dial up modem based company, he destroyed a great American company. This book seems to be an attempt to make himself look great while blaming others that were unable to see his greatness. I will never buy another Steve Case book.

If you’ve listened to books by How to Be Amazing with Michael Ian Black before, how does this one compare?
The story was interesting but this podcast series seems to have drifted from speaking with "amazing" people to speaking with people with unusual experiences.

The Human Shadow and What Stories Do We Need?

Historia
Robert Bly - one of the most compelling mythologists and storytellers of our time - captures the imagination in two live recordings. In The Human Shadow, Bly takes us on a thought provoking and entertaining journey exploring our "shadow" through poetry, music, and storytelling. What Stories Do We Need? reminds us that the mythology we have inherited is often defective. Just as the church refused to accept the reality Galileo saw in his telescope, literalists have removed the dark soul images that nourished our ancestors from mythology.

Don't waste your time or money on this
Revisado: 03-14-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the content was far less political and the message was more tight.
What was most disappointing about Robert Bly’s story?
I expected something more elegant, like Joseph Campbell. Instead, this was some left wing psychology with far too much politics mixed in. He seemed unable to communicate ideas without injecting his partisan political beliefs.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
This wasn't a book, it was a rambling conversation with some guitar music inserted at times. Their are much better alternatives available on Audible.
